Software makes searching through emails very easy. Software frequently causes Outlook to crash and when this happens, the Status feature does not keep track of emails that were being processed well. Sometimes emails don't get filed, but you have no way of knowing because the email will already have the "Filed by Mail Manager" tag. Just hoping this doesn't happen to a critical email. If more than one employee gets the same email you can see if that other person filed it. However, if you do a bulk mail filing, it appears that the software will store a duplicate copy if any of the emails you select have already been filed by someone else.
