The pinwheel phone helps me keep the dangers of the internet somewhat at bay for my 13-year old. The phone does seem targeted towards a younger customer, without much of a plan to age with their consumer. My son has been using this phone for about two-plus years, and there is no mechanism to upgrade the phone when it breaks or feels out-of-date. In addition, it doesn't provide Apple-level support for obvious reasons. When you have an issue, the support system is dependent on the user/parent to carry a heavy lift toward trouble-shooting. That said, my teen is generally safer than his peers, I can stay in communication with him, and I am able to monitor his interactions with friends, while allowing him the freedom he needs at this stage.
