I have a payment plan with the IRS. They wrote me details that included that I should send checks to them 10 days before payments are due. I wrote the check to the IRS dated for June 1st. I put it in the mail 7 days prior to the 1st. I had NO IDEA the date I wrote on my check meant nothing. Santander cashed the check on the 29th of May prior to my pension being paid which caused my account to go into the negative. Santander does not take responsibility. They charged me fees. So folks remember, OTHERS CAN CASH YOUR CHECK PRIOR TO THE DATE YOU WROTE ON THE CHECK. Or maybe it's just Santander!
