I signed up a number of years ago with Star of Service as a service provider. I paid for the "subscription" and listed my business. Despite having a detailed profile, I received only 2 jobs in over 3 years of membership with them.
Then they put their prices up to $94 a month - Way too expensive for the returns, so I went back to being a "free member". Then the "special offer" emails started... 50% off if you paid nearly $1,000 a year, plus a week of "premium" service for free if you signed up and paid for the whole year upfront.
I emailed them numerous times and told them they were too expensive, and they dropped their price to $47 a month, but only if I bought a whole year upfront.
I emailed them again and told them for me to continue using them that they'd have to drop their prices, or make it "pay per job done" like they used to. They continued with the emails stating they'd give me a month free if I bought a yearly subscription upfront for almost $1,000.
After numerous emails back and forth, they emailed me and offered me a week free - there was absolutely NO mention of any money, NO mention of this free offer converting to a paid membership after the week finished, nothing.
I took the week free, and then they tried to charge my PayPal account for almost $1,000. They sent invoices for something that I'd never bought or signed up to, and I emailed them and told them that. Then the emails from Star of Service continued... "We were unable to charge your card"... "Please pay your invoice" etc...
I emailed them back and told them that I hadn't purchased anything, nor had I signed up for anything. The emails with the invoice attached continued, along with demands for payment.
I emailed them and told them they didnt have my authority to charge my PayPal account or my credit card, but they persisted for well over 6 weeks.
They tried and tried to charge my PayPal account for almost $1,000 for something that I'd never even bought!
After a barrage of email ping pong, I told them they could cancel and delete my account with them. The invoices continued to arrive with demands for payment.
I cancelled my account with them, and deleted it. The emails and demands for payment continued. I emailed them back and told them I didn't have an account with them, and that as a result of their continued fraudulent business practices, I had cancelled both my PayPal account and my credit card.
The emails, invoices and demands for payment continued.
I emailed them again (yawn) and told them that I was going to post negative reviews about them. Tonight I get an email (from the same idiot that was sending the invoices) and he tells me that my email address is banned from their website for "breach of contract". What contract? I never signed or entered into any "contract" with them... I asked them to provide me a copy of said "contract" with my signature on it.
I'm still waiting for a reply.
