I think you undersell the webbing band only cautioning on the ensuring the size will fit past the hand. What you don't say is it means it's is unlikely to come off the wrist even if accidentally pulled open. I am a mountain biker often in remote areas, sometimes by myself. Safety often comes down to small things....
