If you could let the customer know which items will be arriving in a separate shipment, that would be great. Sometimes, my packing slip lists an item I ordered, but it's not in that box and it arrives a day or two later. Multiple shipments is fine; it would just be nice to have an accurate record of what is coming when and which items arrived in the box(es) received.
