We bought a reasonably expensive Askem sofa from Habitat (current price £1,400), thinking it a worthwhile investment, but after a year of ownership, when it started to dip in the middle, we discovered that Habitat sofa warranties are only valid for 12 months, including the frame. Given the price, and in comparison to other retailers, we find this ludicrous. The sofa in question had pretty light use - we don't have children or pets, and hadn't even been using it every night. In the end, we took the legs off, so that it would be equally supported in the middle, not just at the corners. Now the seat cushion have also lost their shape, and don't stay in place. We would never buy a sofa from Habitat again. The only reason I'm rating them 2 stars, rather than 1, is that I've had a few other more successful purchases, e.g. a quilt, and some glassware.

The product I bought has such poor quality that cannot even be used. Through Argos I bought the item called "Metal Folding Relaxer Chair - Coastal Stripe", whose brand is Habitat (it is also listed on Habitat's website). At the beginning the chair was comfortable, but as a few weeks passed by it started to become more and more uncomfortable. At the beginning the cushioning was 15cm thick, now it is rather 5, and all the pieces of foam that are dangling inside the cloth cover have moved to the sides. The springs at the back of the chair are very weak, and deform in a few weeks. Now I cannot even use the deck chair because in 10 minutes I get so much back pain that cannot that I have to stand leave it.

Nothing about what I received says king .. the cover barely reached across my bed, pillow cases and shams were for a small bed .. and there is NO comforter .. just a top sheet with their signature on it

Habitat with the emphasis on 'tat'. I bought the Radius dressing table and was disappointed to see it arrived as a flat-pack and as such I have had to spend several hours getting the drawers to fit, and I have good carpentry tools. (They said that it is stated on their website that it is flat-packed but I can't see where.) I did eventually get a discount for the dodgy drawers but everywhere these days you have to spend a fortune for goods of unacceptable quality. That's why I avoid buying furniture, and make much of what I need myself.

Would be 5 stars for good wooden picture frames. BUT no stars for the damaged frame (wood split at the back), the completely different frames arriving in two sequential attempts at replacement and the huge nuisance of repacking and awaiting collections. To get the right frame (clearly identified) took four deliveries and two collections, all with only the day given and no smaller time slots. They’ve given me a £25 voucher in compensation but I don’t want to pay a delivery charge (which they refused to give free) so probably won’t want to use it in a further order.

Habitat is good for smaller items like cushions, lamps, kitchenware, but their more expensive items seem to be of very poor quality. I purchased a bed from them which started to collapse after only 3 years. When I emailed them to see what they could do, they told me to pay for an independent furniture specialist to write a report on the cause of the fault. This cost £54 and despite the engineer telling me something should have bene built in to the bed to stop the fault, they said the report found it was not a manufacturing fault causing the bed to collapse. Their products are clearly not built to be sustainable. I would imagine a bed to last at least 10 years but with Habitat I only got 3. They apologised that the item was faulty, but refused to compensate me in anyway. I twice requested that they call me to discuss the matter (as it says you are welcome to do at the bottom of their emails) but they just kept emailing me to say the matter was closed. Genuinely the worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. I will never ever shop with Habitat again.

Having ordered & paid for a delivery of items, I believed & counted on the 3-5 working day delivery promise. By day 5 still no info or contact from Habitat. After two conversations with their 'customer services' I was told my items would be a further 3 days before delivery. They were still at the depot & NO attempt was made to inform me of this delay. Two items were a birthday gift & so extremely disappointed as would not be here on time. Poor communication. Operators I spoke to seemed uninterested & oblivious to my concern.
