“Apostil obtained a birth certificate on my behalf. Although my information was correct, the birth certificate had errors. The government website states that there in no charge to rectify an error if the error was their error. Yet Apostil.co.za insisted I pay an additional fee to rectify the error.”

“Way too expensive and definitely part of the reason that nobody can get anything rigght with any authority. These agents jump the queue and keep normal citizens from getting their documents. They are forcing us to use them but also ensuring that the system will never work. The ultimate form of capitalism.”

“We made use of the priority DIRCO Apostille services in an attempt to receive our DIRCO Apostilles in time for our appointment at the embassy. After 9 working days, I followed up on the progress and received the following feedback: "Please be advised that it is still in progress. Please be patient, I will provide feedback as soon as possible." We received feedback 4 working days later but noticed that the DIRCO completed the Apostille 5 working days before the email was sent to us.”

Thank you for your review, albeit less than expected. When DIRCO apostilles a document, we are never notified right away, it is always a few days afterwards. Timings are also our best estimates and are not guaranteed, which you were aware of. Nevertheless, we welcome your feedback and hope to assist you in future if need be.

“This was not a pleasant experience. First document – PCC and Apostille: Paid an exorbitant fee for the Priority PCC service on 3 December 2021 which should have taken 4 to 7 working days. 5 Jan 2022, followed up again, thinking we were awaiting the Apostille, only to be told that it had not been done and suddenly a different copy of ID was requested (an entire month later!). PCC Apostille was finally ready on 23 Jan – a whopping 82 days after payment made. It then took an additional 6 days to reach me in CT via courier. After numerous follow ups and a formal requests, I received a partial refund due to the massive delay of the PCC Second document – Apostille Driver’s License: I submitted my Driver’s license for Apostille and after 5 weeks was told it was ready for courier – I replied immediately (within 20 minutes) confirming address. 6 days later I followed up as still had not received the document only to be told it had not even been sent yet! I completely understand that apostil.co.za staff have no control over government department workings and timing, however, the “controllable” admin errors/oversights at their offices are what I take exception to. No explanation is ever given for these delays, and it is incredibly unfortunate that this lack of dedication causes massive impact on people’s lives and futures.”
