The location is very picturesque so the setting is idillic with very nice staff. On arrival at the site it is advertised that entry to the cabin (Osprey 1 Hot-tub) was from 4pm. Eventually and after my own intervention and chasing we got the keys at 4:45pm which created me issues for the two kids whom were restricted in what they could do. The lodge was in reasonably good order albeit the repairs need to be done correctly and finished off properly. The hot tub was cold/cool and when I visited the main office the manager came over and checked the temperature. He confirmed it as 25*C instead of the required and processed 37*5C. This left us without the hot tub for the first day (paid for). I paid for the advertised wifi which was non existent until 10pm the day before we left. The main office said that the 3rd Part provider of the wifi should be contacted as the site does not control it. I would of if I could but the phone boxes were out of order due to jamming and cables being severed 3 weeks prior by workman on site (as advised by staff in the main building). If there is a trend of poor wifi, the site should be addressing the provision and not just brush it off to the customers. Whilst having a meal, I ordered a hot dessert, this arrived cold. When I spoke to the waitress, she stated that the chef was on his first day and needed to learn the temperature requirements. WOW...with the young children and older folk who holiday here, there is a real risk of of drastic illness especially with high risk food items. The chef must have qualifications and experience for the role...a very poor show and response. The Rover Pass at £75, what was this for as everything was paid for on top of the pass cost (apart from the pool) so appears to be a rip off and at no point was the Rover Pass requested on entering the facilities. The £250 deposit was explained that it would simply be marked against the card but not actually taken. This was taken straight away and on leaving the site I was informed that the deposit would be refunded within 24/48hrs. Over 48hrs on and I am awaiting feedback on my refund of deposit. Having read the previous reviews, I took it as disgruntled customers and noted the little apologies and "hope you return"! I would expect a decent response with a better proposal from the company given the money spent for this 5 day stay.

Very friendly service - nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was spotless, warm and comfortable. Lovely park to stay in when you want away from the rat race. I would definitely come back for another short break. Value for money

Visited Hunters Quay Oak type lodge for long weekend with family 6-9the May 2016 inclusive and lodge was impressive, clean and large. The hot tub was a hit with the adults in the evenings and was certainly relaxing.(It was serviced daily, and guy was informative re operation etc.) Views great. Facilities good. Restaurant very good.

We stayed in a caravan at hunters quay, the staff were friendly and really helpful. Brilliant entertainment for all the family. Hunters quay staff made the facilities easily accessible for my elderly papa who was over the moon with his holiday.

Thank you so much to all the staff at Hunters Quay who made our week a brilliant holiday. Even the security and pool staff were so friendly and welcoming to us every day and definitely made us want to return next year. Special thanks to Chloe and Aiden at entertainment who made sure we had a great time and catered to our specific needs. Staff here definitely made our holiday and facilities and lodges were also brilliant.

The location was beautiful and therefore cannot fault that (so would love to rate higher for that) BUT we stayed in the pet friendly cabin - which was very out of date and in desperate need of repair - not one of the beds in the place was comfy - springs sticking out!! The sofas were unbearable to sit on - springs popping and clearly broken - where we were choosing to sit on the floor (with the exception of one of our guests who is a pensioner and had to sit on a dining chair the entire weekend!!). There was a nail sticking out of the floor in the kitchen which was dangerous for the adults and the puppy! Considering the price we paid and the fact the had to pay extra for our puppy to come this to was definitely NOT value for money!! I understand that some peoples dogs may be destructive but this is not what our dog is like and therefore I would expect a basic good standard for the price we paid - If not better than basic but unfortunately we did not even get a basic standard! I would not recommend for anyone taking a pet as it was a really uncomfortable experience - however from what we could see of the non-pet friendly cabins it looked good - but for taking a pet it isn't worth it!!

Hi Erin, thanks for the review of your stay with us, and sorry to hear about the issues you had with your unit. All our lodges are pet friendly, and we pride ourselves in having a high standard of accommodation, so sorry this was not the case. If you could please email marketing@argyllholidays.com with more information about where you stayed we will investigate. Thanks

Drimsynie lodges have become a family tradition for birthdays and holidays. The lapwing lodges are amazing and the hot tub is an added bonus. The staff are really helpful and lodges are clean and stocked with everything you need. The only disappointment with our last stay was the hotel wasn't opened for dinner. We were planning to go their for my birthday meal but wasn't opened. May have been due to it being in September but not sure. Just a minor observation. Would recommend anyone to go as you feel very refreshed and relaxed.

We have stayed at the Shepherds Hotel at Cockermouth on a number of occasions and have always found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The rooms we have stayed in are always very clean, light and airy and the bed extremely comfortable. The breakfast is delicious! My one concern is that on our last visit, the hotel seems to have been sold, and therefore we have lost our weekend retreat! We will have to go a long way to find another hotel that meets our requirements.

The holiday park is set in a beautiful part of Argyll. Our lodge overlooked a small river or burn which was very pretty. If you want 'busy', then the centre has lots to do - for children during the day and plenty evening entertainment at night for adults. We had young children so did not bother with the evening activities and can honestly say there was no noise from the centre - very quiet and peaceful at night. I would go back for a 'get away from it all' break.

We have only stayed at Drimsynie estate, first we use to hire the caravans, which were always spotless, and then we tried the Lapwing lodges, absolutely love staying in them, so comfortable, even more amazing now with the hot tubs. On arrival, its lovely when you first walk in, the heating is left on for you, which makes its more cosy. They provide towels for you, there's an ironing board and Iron in the cupboard if you ever need to use them. They have soap, shampoo and conditioners in all bathrooms for you which is nice! The kitchen, they provide tea towels, small bottle of washing up liquid and cleaning cloths if needed. The lodge is spotless, beds so comfortable, which are made up for you on arrival which is great, when you have spent the day travelling! The showers are great, so powerful. The hot tub is fantastic, love using it every evening,( when its not raining!) It's a shame there isn't a canapy that you can pull across when it does rain, when it gets too heavy, you just can't stay in it. The facilities are good, swimming pool is big and its nice to have all the extras (sauna etc) so clean. The food is very nice at the bar restaurant, plenty of choice to choose from. They have a games room, which is nice for children, a lovely play area for toddlers. We take our dog with us, its great walking around the area, the scenery is gorgeous. It's an amazing place to visit. The staff are great, any problems they are dealt with straight away, nothing is to much trouble. I would recommend Lochgoilhead to anybody! its a fantastic place to visit.

We have been coming 5 years - this year was a bit of a disappointment because the caravan although new, had problems. Not a big deal 1 year out of 5 but the style of van has NO opening windows in the lounge and that would be dreadful in summer. My granddaughter did archery and to be honest we felt it was very expensive for what she got - there were so many people in the group. We like Drimsynie because there are a number of indoor activities (covering bad weather issues) but were disappointed that this year it seemed to be mainly machines, which are teaching our children to gamble - not healthy. Badmington had gone and also snooker. As the grandchildren grow, we are finding a lack of good healthy activities - tree trekking would be excellent, and a far better outdoor play area would help (Roseneath Park has an excellent one) and things like a climbing wall would improve things. We went to the Elsa evening and were disappointed because the noise was so loud that for adults sitting together at a table, we could not converse. The young children didn't need that amount of noise to enjoy being with Elsa, but it sure made us leave early because we could not enjoy ourselves. For us personally (pensioners on pension credits) and my daughter is recovering from cancer, we find things getting too expensive. A reduction for OAP's or those on benefits, or maybe even those who have been coming regularly (like a frequent flyer thing - though don't delete the points within a certain time!!!) would be a real encouragement. We have enjoyed coming and believe Argyll Holidays do a good job, but it is getting harder for us as the children grow, and our finances are not increasing much. Staff are great and we believe there is huge potential. I hope this doesn't come across as too negative. I used to run a B & B and wanted honest answers from guests so I would know what areas to improve in, so I am giving this honest response with a desire to help you improve, because you have great potential.

Hi there, thanks for your feedback. We are currently in the process of a major renovation at Drimsynie, which will upgrade the both number and standard of facilities available. This will also increase the space available within the complex, so there's more area to chill out. Glad you enjoyed your break though and we hope to see you again soon!

We stayed for 4 nights in a comfort lodge at Hunters Quay in April 2016. The lodge was of a high standard. The village is well maintained with good facilities. We made use of the pools, adventure playground, restaurant, indoor play and entertainments very satisfied with everything - restaurant can get busy at peak times as you'd expect. Great access to Holy Loch, walking and cycling routes, visiting local seaside towns, historical sites and castles. Ideal location for Scottish family holiday.
