“I had agreed with a van supplier to purchase a van. I then insured that van through Autonet Insurance. The insurance was not due to start for a few days. The van supplier then made a mistake and agreed to supply me with a different van. I am not complaining about the adjustment in the policy itself, that could be classed as fair. What I am disappointed with is that I was charged £37.50 adjustment fee when my policy was barely started. I find this to be a disgrace. In hindsight, I should have possibly activated my 14 day cooling off period and cancelled the insurance and started again. I found the assistant not to be that helpful. I shall be taking steps next year to try and avoid using Autonet again.”

We can see that a change was made to the vehicle insured not long after the policy started and that this resulted in an admin fee being payable. Although we can understand you are disappointed, these fees, along with our cancellation terms are explained prior to the policy being purchased. “Not happy, £80 to cancel an insurance policy is totally unacceptable. This is supposed to cover administration charges but there is no way the cost of administration for the cancellation of a policy would come anywhere neer that. Will never use again and would not recommend to anyone.”

When a policy is purchased, it is a 12 month policy that takes into account the cost of setting up and administering the policy. If the policy is cancelled before the end of the 12 month term, charges are made to cover the overall costs incurred by Autonet. These are explained prior to the policy being purchased.
