“Bought a tree from Beechwood and it's dead - they fobbed me off by saying it was dormant but after 5 months it's definitely dead and they refuse to refund the money or send a replacement. Won't deal with them again”
“I purchased a cherry tree in May - it arrived with no soil around the root, yet there were several green leaves at the top. All previous purchases of dormant trees from other suppliers had no leaves whatsoever. I followed the online instuctions but the tree is now as dead as the parrot in the Monty Python sketch. The reply to an email I sent also left a lot to be desired in the customer service skills dept.”
“Absolutely rotten customer service. I got Sent a rubbish tree and when I got in touch I got an even more rubbish response. Thankfully i our hard through Amazon so they will refund and look into their seller practises which are truly abysmal”
“Avoid this company at all cost!! they take your good earned money and supply dead plants, they will not replace or refund when asked and blame you for neglect of the plants, even when they are dead in the delivery box.”
“Received 4 fruit trees - 1 failed plus 10 hazel whips - 1 failed. No green beneath the bark. All were planted in deep soil with much leaf mould - they were watered regularly - Beechwood suggested they had not been looked after and failed to send replacements nor to promise them when they become available next season.”
“Ordered barefoot gooseberry bush, planted as directed, appeared dead despite following instructions to the letter. Contacted twice to resolve, no reply to any communications . AVOID at all costs .”
“DO NOT use this company. The one star is due to not being able to leave less. They care little for their plants and have sent three plants over a long bank holiday via Royal Mail so they hvae turned up, a week after despatch, dry and have fallen out of their pots due to the dry soil. Asked for a refund or replacement and was refused as they think they look OK. Then said that I knew the plants would take 2 days so they would be in transit over Easter!!!! Surely if you cared about your plants that you have, you would send until after Easter.”
“Bad quality plants, poorly packaged. The tree had been roughly hacked with a blunt blade in order to fit into s smaller box. Slow delivery and awful customer service. Avoid.”
“Bought a silver birch from this company via ebay. Was described as stunning mature tree. What a joke!! I received a dead twig which had obviously just been put in pot as there was practically no rootball. Was met by abuse when I complained and they refused me a refund or replacement. Ebay no help at all. Have planted it up but six months later it is obvious that it is dead. Do not buy from this company.”
“Like others that have posted I wish, really wish, I had read the reviews before purchasing from Beechwood nurseries. I bought a Peach tree and Cherry tree. Due to my wife and I getting wires crossed she bought the same trees as well. We decided to keep both. The Cherry trees are fine and doing well. The Peach trees started producing leaves that never got very big and then shriveled. Waited hoping they would recover but now looking very dead.
Okay that happens, but bit strange both died.
Contacted customer service who requested photos of the trees. Upon receiving they said looks like they weren't watered when they started producing leaves. Well they were watered and a Nectarine tree purchased at the same time (from another supplier) and watered in the same way has thrived. Tried contacting customer service several times about a refund and they are not replying.
Problems happen and you have to judge a company on how it responds to complaints. Ignoring your customers isn't good.
My recommendation is go elsewhere for your plants, because if you have a problem it will be your fault.”
“I was very disappointed with the two hydrangeas I bought from Beechwood Nurseries, especially as they were bought for a present. They were in poor condition, pot-bound and over watered. I shan’t buy from them again.”
“Do not use this company.
Ignore the fancy website.
Ordered 10 beech plants. They sent me 10 dead sticks and refused to rectify the problem. No refund or replacements despite several emails and a letter to the directors - mostly ignored.
It speaks volumes about a company that would rather have a bad review than refund 22.99!
Name and shame - beechwood nurseries, 3 fat pigs, directors Mr Robert Calvert and Mrs Ruth Calvert.”
“Read reviews after my purchase of 25 Western Red Cedar plants.... Had I read reviews before hand I would not have made a purchase... Happily I did not, they arrived well packaged, healthy and within 3 days of purchase... Can't fault them or the customer service... and will definately purchase from here again... Ignore the negativity, they are excellent”
“If I could give 0 stars I would. Ordered 100 hawthorn trees from them in April. Only 18 developed, the rest are dead. These were planted the day after delivery and all planted together. No reply when I contacted them. Complete waste of 75euro and waste of time. Never again.”
“Ordered A lilac tree from them on Ebay came as a thin 9" bare stalk in a 2L pot after nurturing for six weeks it grew strange leaves had it identified on Plant identification UK site by 93 members as a currant wrote back asking to be sent what I ordered advising of identification. Also that I had two mature lilac trees in the garden to compare the leaves to and it had spikey leaves that were thick not thin pale green spear shaped lilac leaves. They claimed they sent the other lilac trees which had been planted by the previous property owner in the mid 1980's. Their company was established in 1997. I repeatedly called over a week asking in voicemails to get a return call and made over 40 calls in a week most where the phone just rang out over the day. Emails are responded to on Ebay by Lenka who ignores requests to get a replacement and responds aggressively looking to blame rather than support the customer for the issues. I sent photos to illustrate the issue. She initially said I hadn't ordered from them. I sent her the order information from Ebay and advised her I was emailing on the Ebay page linked to the order. I wrote advising I had spoken to trading standards and was aware I had a period of up to 6 years to get a replacement item. I have spent 7 weeks on this and am relieved I have only lost £17.99. Avoid this company poor quality products and aggressive customer avoidant and dissmissive customer service.”
“Quality of product worse I have ever seen, 50 laurel plsnts were dead on arrival and looked horrendous. We planted them staraight away in the hope they would survive and we also contacted their customer service team the same day. We advised the issue and just asked the question what is the next step should they die. Their return emails were rude and unhelpful and did not provide any solution. If you value your hard earned mobey look elsewhere.”
“I wish I'd read these reviews before I ordered 5 elderflower plants. Packaging did not indicate the right way up, so box delivered with all 5 hanging upside down and 2 damaged as they had clearly been bashed about. Sent photos. Customer service told me to trim them an inch above the soil and plant - I did point out I would not pay £16.95 in a shop for a plant an inch tall and asked for refund or replacement. No response. No phone contact number. I've gone through my bank to get a refund. DREADFUL company, don't use!”
