“good assessment of sleep
lack of real time HR monitoring is a significant limitation
Synchronization also takes long
HRV is interesting but hard to decipher”
“Interesting data is being measured when it works properly. The time it takes to sync and the number of times a workout, biometric or sleep data is not recorded properly makes regular use of the device quite frustrating.”
“After owning the armband HRM for six months and having numerous problems with heart rate readings, I purchased the chest strap HRM to see if it was any better. Hands down, the chest strap HRM is far superior than the armband. Don’t waste your money on the armband, you should go with the chest strap. Note, I would have rated the chest strap 5 stars if it wasn’t for the 1 star armband.”
“The band and shoe pod are extremely accurate and the app gives a lot of great insights. The only reason I gave it a 3 is because you cannot get data in real time and it takes a few minutes for your data to upload to the app. If you want to know your analytics you have to go into the app to see them on your phone. It would be great to have a screen on the band to view some real-time data”
“This review is for the second Biostrap I've purchased. The first was stolen and the friendly staff at Biostrap helped me replace it.
In both cases, I opted for the less expensive version. As a cyclist, I didn't really see the benefit of the shoe pod, since I calculate my physical exertion via a power meter and heart rate monitor. So, the purpose of the Biostrap was to quantify my sleep quality and recover, primarily with resting heart rate and to some degree heart rate variability. The recover score and sleep score are great summaries of this data.
The charging pad that comes with the first Biostrap was plastic and cheap-looking, while the second was slick (aluminum-like and glass). Interestingly though, it didn't work. So, I reverted to using the cheap version, which is very finicky in terms of position and activity the recharging function. On several occasions I came back to a dead battery... make sure the light turns blue before you walk away. Summary, the charging needs to be fixed.
The first Biostrap never had a problem syncing to the app on my phone... very reliable. The second Biostrap has been a nightmare and constantly loses connection to the phone and is a struggle to reconnect. I have to say... If I had this same experience with the first Biostrap, I would not have bothered replacing it. I would have opted for the Whoop despite the subscription model.
In short, the customer service was very helpful... top marks. I like that there isn't a subscription model and the sleep analysis works well as long as I can keep it synced with the app and get the recharging to work. Then again, maybe I just got a lemon.”
“Need more focus on user experience - learning what the different pieces are and what they will capture, do they need to be worn in conjunction with anything else? Now that I have this data, what do I do with it? Have blog in more conspicuous place on website.
Maybe a "how to" guide/video on the home page. May also be an unintended selling tool (I watch it and it convinces me I should have the data it provides to be a better employee, athlete, human being!)”
“I love your product for the most part. The charger is on a very short cord that needs to be plugged in. When making more of these in the future, please make the cords longer like Apple does. I usually have to find an item to set the charger on because the cord is so short.”
“The product provides good in-depth information but has multiple issues.
Charge doesn’t last long at all, must recharge very oftenly.
Not water resistant.
Sync time is painfully slow.
Data processed in the cloud, no local option.”
“sleep data very helpful. wrist strap is inconvenient. charging every day is very inconvenient. the data aside from sleep is non intuitive on the app. the website and app instructions could be a lot clearer.”
“Wrist strap/foot pad seem fine. Support for arm HRM in app is skimpy. More support regarding why active HR numbers always shown but active HRV only shows intermittently (rest of time is "_ _ _" even though plotted points are shown on details screen. Also where is best position to wear. I have lots of questions with few answers arm HRM.”
“You were out of the ankle strap when I purchased the biostrap. I got an email that they were back in stock but we were traveling and I didn't get a chance to buy it. Now it is out of stock again. What gives?”
“I've only had my BioStrap for about a week now, and reading/understanding graphic data is not my strong suit. I need more time to learn the device, and I need more information on how to breakdown the data retrieved. More time needed~”
“I have now used the Biostrap with the Shoe pod for 46 days. It is paired with the App on the iPhone X. When working, the Biostrap provides useful information, Heart Rate, Steps, Respiratory Rate, Sleep History and other measurements. I find the negative issues most frustrating. First, communication between the App and device is sporadic at best. When it does connect, sync times are frustrating as they take several minutes and the phone and device must be in very close proximity. As mentioned, I have now been using the Biostrap for 46 days. Most recently, in the last week the Biostrap has failed to properly record any workout data whatsoever for five days, four being consecutively. Currently it has become not even a good paperweight.”
“So Im not a little girl and none of the straps are big enough to comfortable fit my wrist unless I'm using one of the last notches on either the old or new band which leaves a tail flapping around. the materials I received with the band says that a large band is available but i cant find it on the website.
So far after 8 days I'm not seeing that this band is superior to to my Samsung band. Nice thing is I can wear the band for a few more weeks before I decide if I want to return it.”
