“A lot of info that has to be heard/read by 1st time boaters - well done - I learned a lot. Only aggravation was that when I completed hearing some/several of the modules I had to wait 15-30 seconds in order to be allowed to continue to the next module. ( The time clock would indicate several more seconds for completion of the module however the audio had finished.) Also - wish I could get confirmation of which questions on the modules and the final test which I got wrong - certainly would be helpful since the reason for the course was Safety.”

“Pros-Information was clear -voice recordings and videos were very beneficial and made it a lot less of a chore to finish the course. -illustrations were clear and helpful -system remembered course progress Cons - music played during videos was way too loud and VERY distracting. It was not calming but irritating, it made it hard to focus and sometimes I had to rewatch the videos just to hear what was said.”

“While the information was all pertinent, the online course was difficult to get through. The amount of time following reading a page before it would let me go on and read the next page ranged anywhere from a few seconds to almost 2 minutes on some pages. 3.5 hours of course time is only good if students are actually learning. By last few modules, I found myself checking out other websites, leaving the computer, generally not focusing on the information while I waited for the next page. Also, it would be very helpful to know which questions I got incorrect in the module quizzes. Not able to learn what information I should be reviewing when there’s no way to tell where I went wrong.”

Thanks for taking time to leave feedback Steve. We understand the test can take a while for some students, but the time requirements and quizzes are required by Transport Canada and NASBLA to ensure students of all reading levels are able to fully understand all content. The timed requirements are the same across all course providers, and we find many students prefer the convenience of completing the course from the comfort of home, rather than in a classroom setting. Thanks for sticking with it and safe boating!

“Some of the final exam questions don’t seem to come from the course. I got 6 questions wrong but because of being surprised by the questions, I’d like to know what I got wrong. Luckily I read the book which seems to be more comprehensive and more of a source of exam questions.”

“I did not like the fact that if I would have failed a test I would need to take the entire module over again Their should be an option to view the course to review it but it’s unfair to take over an entire module! Also it would be helpful to show which answers we got wrong and show us the correct ones so we can learn from our mistakes. I also don’t like the fact that you need to pay extra for going back to a course after you completed it. Atleast give a short few days to go back and review for free before charging. Other than that I enjoyed the video presentation as it clearly spelled out more items in detail. I also tried applying some coupons to the order and not even one worked. Overall would say it’s an acceptable course with a few trick questions but it did the job”
