Very informative and reasonably priced course. The course and final test can take most people 3-4 hours to complete. Accredited by Transport Canada which gives peace of mind. Some of the question are worded awkwardly which could be on purpose to show you know the information. But this can make it difficult to get the right answer when more than one or all options are valid. Choose the "best" option and stick with it. Overall great course, definitely recommended!

having to stay on the page for a set amount of time is very frustrating. why? i read and retain information quicker than that. should be able to disable it and move at your own pace. also, why not show the questions that you get wrong in the quiz? how are you supposed to learn if you can't see what your mistakes were?

Fantastic! Enjoyable and engaging experience. The combination of text, audio and video made learning easy and entertaining. I would definitely recommend this program to everyone, especially younger boaters.

The material tried to be done well. I will give an A for effort. The final product was lacking though. Lots of questions had spelling / grammatical errors. Some were even nearly detrimental to right/ wrong answers. Lots of the quiz questions were on subject matter not previously covered in said module. Which left me feeling ill prepared for the final exam.

Thought it was easy to follow and was filled with a lot of information I didn't know. Grateful for the course. Very user friendly.

I enjoyed the course. The content was thorough and prepared me well for the final test through Transport Canada. One suggestion that I have is that the control bar for the audio and/or video should be placed within the same bar as the lesson forward/backward controls. There were many instances when I needed to pause or rewind the audio/video and it was very annoying to have to scroll back to the top of each lesson to do so.

Can easily read the module text before the time allows you to move to the next slide. If you are not reading and choose to watch the videos, some of the videos play through to the end and you continue to have to wait until you can click on the next page button.

Very informative with a touch of degree of difficulty so a new boat operator has to study

More video lessons instead of just narration would be nice. Also had several lessons where the timer was much longer than the audio or video for the lesson. This meant having to wait (for up to a minute) while the timer ran down before being able to move to the next lesson.

The areas of the course that went too slowly or were 100% clear for me already could not be bypassed. This shifted focus from survival knowledge and what is critical and unique in order to operate a boat, to frustration the timer had not expired by the time the content was complete which frequently left 30 to 60s waiting, bored to death. I personally rate this as follows: “Very poor”; frustrating and too slow/boring in some sections. But it did get me prepared for 100% performance on the final test +1. and I also see a need to prevent someone skimming through content they don’t actually know +1, you dont know what is and is not ok to skip for each individual.

I say vary poor mainly for following reasons. In no particular order. 1. When you do the module test and you don’t score 100% you have know idea what question you got wrong. That is ridiculous. I taught computer based training and the student could review the wrong answer and rationalize why they got it wrong and they then can understand what the correct action would be. This is boater safety. A person should be able to complete the course with 100% score if they are actually concerned with safety. 80% isn’t good enough if you don’t know what your doing and drown. 2. A three hour on line test is to long. Having a mandatory time between questions is ludicrous. There were areas of the modules I could have flown through and others I would like to have spent more time on. And just more time to digest and understand the module but knowing that it would take 3 hours at best I didn’t ponder very long on anyone module. 3 From a safety point of view there was way way way too much filler which extended the time of the course. You could do a much better job dealing with on water safety. 4 the modules dealing with buoys is painful. Many boaters boat on small inland lakes without buoys or beacons. And for the people that have Buoys etc they could that module. So I would recommend boater license that are graduated. Like a drivers license. You need a different license to drive a bus, tandem axle truck, motorcycle etc. Can you imagine a drivers safety course to cover all that. Ya. You could say that would be too hard to police but if you are serious about safety then take it bloodwell serious. Imagine. I get my boater card license , have a boat load of people and now I am about to boat on a waterway with channel markers. I would be so confused by them and could kill everyone on board. But hey. I had a boaters card with a watered down version of buoys Give the right level of licensing for the right type of boating. Period. In my opinion and everyone I have talked to thinks the boater card is a huge waist of time and money. 5. Only one module made me feel that there was value to the course and that was navigation with other water craft. Could have used more on that for sure From personal experience and again from what other people tell me we need more education on how to travel on a waterway especially when they get busy. People with boater license are all over the place without a clue on navigating with other boater traffic.
