I really liked the layout of the course and the program, I thought all information was related to the actual test and enjoyed it. Although, it was frustrating if you failed a quiz you had to redo the moduel, and the time limits were also frustrating.

I liked how it had unlimited tries and the videos made it easy to follow and to remember

The modules etc were very easy to follow, and understand. I did notice a few typos in the slides/animations. Also, this is the 21 century, why is it that not one single image showed a woman operating a personal power craft or doing any of the basic maintenance pre checks, fueling the boat etc. I noticed this right away, and it annoyed me for the entire course. As a learning and technical tool the information was clear, concise and easy to digest. I passed on my first attempt.

Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback Ava! And even though you've already passed, your account is good for life - so you can always go back and review modules as a refresher, including all updated content. :)

I like the site, content, animations, etc., all very well done. The mandatory waiting times per screen were dreadful though. I understand it's to encourage people to actually learn the content, but it make the course painfully longer than it should. Perhaps it could be modified that mandatory timing is only when you choose to read versus watch the videos? Also, the inability to review the quiz (not final exam) material to know what you got wrong is completely counter productive. Without knowing where you got it wrong, you second guess items you knew where right. 100% absolutely you should be able to review wrong answers, how else will you learn? That is the object here, right?

The course was very well put together and easy to understand with mini quizzes inbetween each module to make sure you understand the information, the final test requires being re-directed but the program does so easily and without hassle. I would definitely recommend the boatsmart course/test to others. The only negative is how long you have to wait to move to the next lesson if you happen to be a fast reader, I had to wait for most of them but this is required for the course not a boatsmart choice and does help make sure everyone reads the page!

I think that the content of the course was presented in an interesting way. One thing that can be improved on would be allowing the student to review the quiz answers after completion. This way you could figure out which questions you got wrong and know what the correct answer is.

Hi Reuben - thanks for taking time to leave feedback. Since there are a finite number of test questions and the test is open book and unsupervised - Transport Canada and NASBLA regulate that the answers not be shown. This is one of the check and balances put into place to maintain the integrity of online testing. As boaters too, we understand the feedback and are working with regulators to try and improve the process within the confines of online testing. Thanks for sticking with it and safe boating!

Some slides's countdown clock was longer than the length of the videos. They should be synchronized so that the users don't have to wait around in idle after the video is finished.

I felt that the content was beyond my expectations. I went in thinking there wasn’t a lot to learn about boating, but this training went beyond boating in a small fresh water lake. I feel prepared to boat in any type of water, anywhere, very comfortably now. I highly recommend this training for the safety of yourself and fellow boaters.
