“I'm really enjoying Brightside. My therapist is amazing and I like the homework/lessons. That being said, I am deeply concerned with my Psychiatric care. I have NEVER heard back from my doctor after being prescribed...I set up an appointment for review, she never showed up. It's been almost two months, and now I got a request with an entirely different person. I pay for this feature, and I really can't afford it, but I'm desperate for help. I give the Psychiatric care aspect of Brightside 1 out of 5 stars”
“While it was easy to schedule my initially appointment, it was difficult to schedule subsequent appointments with the providers I wanted. I am not a fan of Brightside's tech platform. I chose Brightside be ause it was supposed to be no cost with my insurance yet it still cost me $38. If I have to pay then I am going to use another system.”
“Brightside has helped me out significantly from the space I was in. The app is easy to use and helpful with keeping track of your own progress, scheduling visits and getting more resources aside from talk therapy. It was helpful for me to start therapy where I felt the most comfortable, and at that time it was in my own home. So thankful for my providers, resources and the simplicity of such a difficult process.”
“I love how easy the app is to use and the providers are very nice and listen to what I have to say...the dashboard helps with tracking how well you are managing symptoms and how over time things fluctuate and that normal”
“Brightside has been very helpful on helping me get treatment for anxiety and depression quickly. It would have taken me months to get into a psychiatrist’s office where I live, and I knew I couldn’t continue living the way I was. I see my therapist once a week and she has been instrumental in helping me release trauma and recognize unhealthy behaviors and thought patterns. The only downside to this form of treatment is from a medication standpoint as Brightside is unable to prescribe controlled substances ie… Ativan or Valium for example. When I initially started treatment I was in a vicious anxiety cycle that kept getting worse as I was not sleeping at night. It got to a point where I was having bladder spasms as my body was literally revolting. My psychiatrist through Brightside wasn’t able to prescribe me anything that was effective in breaking this cycle, which ultimately led me to seek in office care from my GP to get on a short course of Ativan. So if you are in any sort of medical emergency or spiral just be aware of their prescribing limitations. Outside of this I really do think it’s a great service that I will continue to use.”
“This is working well for me with outside support from my local therapist. The quick and easy ability to get a prescription for antidepressants is very good.”
“I like using BrightSide for my psychiatric needs. I appreciate my physician who listens to me and takes me experience into account. I’m very happy with BrightSide, I just wish it was a little more cost effective.”
“I’ve only just started meeting with a Brightside provider, but so far I am very pleased with the care I am receiving. I did a health check in last night and this morning I had a message that my provider wanted to meet with me based on my responses. I was able to easily schedule an appointment for tomorrow. I like how I didn’t have to wait to get into a new medical facility without waiting as can often happen. The online appointments are perfect for my busy schedule and my provider really seems to care.”
“I signed up for Brightside about a year and a half ago. My provider was habitually late to our appointments, did not remember me, and rushed me off calls. I switched to the medication-only plan as soon as possible because I didn't feel like I was getting any help or support from talking to my provider - I was just another number to her.
When it came time to renew my prescription refills, Brightside, nor my provider, reached out to me. I requested a refund for the two months that I didn't receive a service or a prescription and was denied one of the refund requests, as they said the policy was for me to cancel prior to the end of the billing cycle, however, how was I supposed to have the foresight 18 days before they did not refill my prescription, that they weren't going to so I could cancel?
When I did reach out to them, it took them 13 days to respond to me - after several emails, phone calls, and help tickets. Their providers don't care, customer service is completely lacking, and policies don't make sense. If you're looking for an online mental health company, Brightside isn't it.”
“It doesn't seem the icons above are clickable but I would rate Brightside at 4 Stars.
The service has been very helpful for me and it's good to know that providers can be available for support when needed.
The one drawback I've found is regarding the check-in surveys for treatment. For such a short survey to be able to plot a data point for Depression and Anxiety seems a bit unreliable to me.
Otherwise a great service through and through. Thank you!”
“I have had a fine time with the medication side of Brightside, but the therapist side is actually extremely frustrating. The therapists see so many clients and/or have extremely limited availability. If you want to see a therapist on a weekly basis, forget it. I can't imagine what it would be like if you were feeling particularly overwhelmed and in need of support. What makes matters worse is you get constant texts and emails telling you you need to see your therapist despite there being no appointments available with them.”
