Recently switched from another company due to an increase in prices. Bulb weren’t the lowest price but their £50 cash back offer was inviting so I went with them (a friend recommended them to me so we both got £50). The switch was incredibly smooth. Bulb kept me informed throughout the whole process and gave me timescales etc. They also promptly told me that I could have a smart meter which was installed just over a week or so later. So far, so good. Would recommend and not just for the £50 cash back!

BULB, although not always the cheapest taffif on the market, make up for being one of the best if not the best energy supplier when it comes to customer service. They communicate clearly and extremely well at all times and especially if you experience a problem. They have always resolved issues satisfactorily and offered compensation without being prompted. I like their systems and the fact that as a customer you have flexibility in payment and feel that you are in control.

The supplier seems to be reliable, really only after a short time. I was surprised that thier billing method required regular payments of a fixed amount each month, thereby building a credit which may or maynot be used.

Bulb take an excessive monthly amount leaving a massive credit balance. They also keep harassing me about having a smart(spy) meter fitted

The reason that we need our members to build up a credit over the Summer is so that payments can remain level going into the Winter, when usage is traditionally higher. We aim to allow our members consistent payments across the year, in this way. By building up this credit, this will act as a buffer for when your usage is higher. It is also worth noting that smart meters aren't there to spy on anyone - they only collect information about your electricity and gas (if you have it) usage, it doesn't collect any personal information. I’ve spent three months trying to get Bulb to replace my meter and ultimately have had to complain to the ombudsman. They’re incompetent.

It supplies 100% renewable electricity and 100% carbon neutral gas. I've been with them for several years; easy to deal with, no long telephone waits, supplied a smart meter. I've just moved and transferred to using them as soon as I could.
