My girlfriend received a voucher when leaving her job and we thought it was a great idea, until we actually tried using it on something we wanted to do. I believe that you can use it for the of City cruises trip on Thames or to see something within the price range, but we decided to use it for theatre. The total or £78 required us to add another £15 to get two tickets for Phantom of the opera. What it did not tell us it that tickets were not available at this price until some time in Q2 of 2026! All options we could see required us adding another £100-£150 each towards the price of the tickets. To get to that point I had to pay additional £15. This means that we had to pay at least £280 for the two of us to see any of the stage. I then went to the theatre’s website and as we still wanted to go, paid £179 for the two of us to get decent seats. We even checked the seats on the Buyagift page and they were not even there for that price or at all. Verdict on that: they artificially inflate the prices, so that when you do not see any of their “free” seats for the next year, you may end up paying extra £200+ for rubbish seats if you don’t check the theatre website. As we were not able to use our voucher for experience were offered and promised, we decided to choose a different experience (with a handy button to take you to that page). Only to find that my experience value was £78!. This means that the extra £15 I paid were gone. Choosing a cheaper erience we would not have chosen if we had a better choice, for £70, the extra £8 also disappeared. Leaving us to potentially enjoy a £70 experience for £93. When I contacted the support on chat during opening hours, they said that the original voucher had 20% added value on it by my girlfriend’s employer and that as we did not choose the original experience, it was removed. I tried explaining that we could not choose it because it was so far ahead and anything this year wanted us to pay extortionate amount. All I wanted was to get my £15 back for not being able to choose that original experience and have those £78 in the voucher total for another, nothing else. After a long chat exchange I was told that they would reach out by email. It was over 10 days ago.. I am not going to stretch it as far as a scam (yet) but I will not go anywhere near this company in the future. The experience of booking it rubbish, they add costs after you have already selected. Any money you added are potentially gone once you are not able to select that experience. The customer service and support are utterly useless. Score 1/10 for overall experience so far

Struggled to find a phone number, then realised they no longer take calls it's all on live chat. The agent couldn't seem to understand the query or even see the correct expiry date on the voucher he sent via live chat after repeated attempts to explain that it hadn't expired yet. Requested help to find a suitable experience to exchange an existing voucher for, which was a nightmare, and after nearly 2 hours of wasted time we eventually got it resolved and he apologised for how long it took. I could not believe how much he misunderstood and how many repeated attempts I had to make to resolve a query that would have taken a fraction of the time by phone. I never want to go through this again. It's far too stressful and time consuming. Crazy how these companies are shifting customers onto live chat, so many are doing it :-(

Used a £100 gift from a friend and was overcharged by buyagift to stay at a hotel, it was much cheaper online than their charge, as a result the £100 gift reduced to £33. What happened to getting the best deal for customers? This is a rip off and will never use or recommend this company.

Been trying to book a simple spa voucher for over a week now. Followed the link and the phone number 0344 477 4777 is no longer in service, yet they are still providing you with it. When trying to book it online, my voucher is not recognized. No phone number to get in touch with and after jumping through so many hoops in their online chat, I was told to wait for a customer service representative and waiting time of 9 minutes. Over half an hour later, someone got connected and provided me with an email. This is what they are calling customer service these days. God help anyone who has a complaint of any shape or form. Last time I buy any vouchers through Buyagift.

Purchased a RHS Wisley day for 2 people last August as a gift for a 94 year old . Came to book for June and asked to pay another£7.00 ? Then told by customer service Wisley was not available on there list , yet our voucher was valid and they still advertise it at a higher price. Took the lady and paid 2 full entrance fees. Complained but they didn’t want to know really . I have had to swop the voucher for another experience and pay another £4.00 for a day which we don’t have time for so this has now cost me £80.00 instead of £40.00. They are now ignoring my requests. I run 2 businesses and if I treated clients like this they would go elsewhere which I wouldn’t blame them. Management and directors look into how your company is working as you are getting a bad reputation.

We purchased a voucher from Buyagift, but unfortunately, the experience did not match what was advertised. When we contacted customer service for support, we were met with a dismissive response. They claimed the venue confirmed we had received the correct treatment, and therefore refused to help us any further — despite that not being the case at all. We’re extremely disappointed with both the misleading offer and the lack of customer support. Based on this experience, we will not be purchasing from Buyagift again and would advise others to be cautious.

Was given 3 course meal with cocktails at london steak house. We were charged non refundable £20 for booking an evening slot which we were not advised of prior to the charge. The voucher sells it as steak house however the only steak you could have without incurring hefty supplement was 7oz rump. Plus you had to order separate sides with all the steak dishes at £8.50 per dish as the steaks only came with sauce. We then were charged 9.5% service charge on the total bill including the cost of the voucher and an additional £1.50 per person cover charge. Total rip off!

The hotel accommodation provided for the value of the voucher was atrocious and wouldn’t recommend anyone buying this type of voucher unless the recipient is prepared to top up with even more money

I was given a buya gift voucher and I had to extend it. Just wondering in I am now the purchaser / party to the contract. They charged me £30 more than the hotel site and £17 to book it. I'm sure they have to provide a telephone number and a postal address by law.

I strongly advise not to use this company for the following reasons: 1) The website is extremely difficult to navigate when trying to redeem a voucher. 2) There is NO telephone support at all - not even a number. 3) The restaurant spent 50 minutes trying to redeem my voucher without success. 4) This is the WORSED experience I have had and conclude this is a bit of a con. A waste of money.

We received a £50 buyagift vouchers from a family member Christmas 2023. Now it's April 2025 and we're still struggling to work out how to use it. We live in Cardiff and there are very little family activities nearby us to use it on. Better give money or book a local voucher than using this website
