“It was described as heavy weight but wasn't, the quality wasn't as expected and the engraving was so small you could hardly read it. Avoid.”

Hi Martin, We are so sorry to hear that you are so disappointed with your order. I feel I should mention that pewter is classed as a precious metal but it is an alloy made from roughly 85% - 99% tin. So it is really quite light. We have more information on our info pages, here is a link for you to see - http://buyatankard.com/info/what-is-pewter I have checked the tankard you had ordered and its approximately 100g heavier than one of our standard weight tankards in a similar style. The weight is added by adding a heavier base and handle along with slightly thicker walls on the body of the tankard. It is a shame that you also have an issue with your engraving, we do try to size the text appropriate to the engrvaing space we have and amount of text requested. If you like though you are more than welcome to send a photo over to info@buyatankard.com and I can have a chat with our engraver to see if this can be made any larger for you. ~ Sam

“The tankards were mass produced - which, okay you'd expect for the price - but one of the two I bought was quite flawed with some distortions on it's decoration. The first one I ordered, I contacted their customer support and asked if I could change the typeface on the etching. The lady I spoke to was very helpful and said she would take care of this, but when it came it had not been change. The continuity of the custom etching wasn't great. The first one looked really good, the second was so faint you could hardly read it. Again, for the money, I wouldn't regard this as being a complete rip, but I definitely wouldn't shop here again. Hi Stuart, Its such a shame to hear you are not pleased with your order! Our pewter tankards are not mass produced at all, they are in fact all made by hand in Sheffield, this may actually be why the celtic design was a little distorted as they are hand stamped. We really like the effect that hand crafting brings as we feel that it makes each one unique. I'm so sorry for the error with your engraving, I can see a note was added to your order about the font change but it does look as though our engraver missed this. If it will help at all I would be really happy to arrange a replacement for you? If this is something you would like me to do please do get in touch at info@buyatankard.com ~ Sam

“I have bought a few pewter tankards from this company, and this one is just as beautiful as the others - good quality, nice polish, and I love the bone handle. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the engraving (my boyfriend's initials) is rather shallow and faint - I would have liked the letters to stand out more.”

“Yes, you have a very happy customer here. If there was a sixth star available for excellent service, I would have checked that box. The website was easy to navigate, shows the products up well, there is very good tracking, and delivery from Scotland to Melbourne, Australia took less than a week. The tankard I ordered was well packaged and beautifully boxed. The tankard itself is really lovely, has been well crafted and it certainly shows in the workmanship, that it is indeed a quality product. I would not hesitate to highly recommend your products/service to friends and family. A big thank you to all of you. The tankard be a valued item in our home for many years to come.
