“We first worked with Karishma to help our nervous foster dog. She gave us great tools to help build his confidence outside and also provided us with enrichment strategies so that he could still get mental stimulation without long walks. I have since gone back and worked with her team and am always happy with the care we get. Can't recommend them enough”

“The team is absolutely amazing and goes out of their way to support us and our boy. We are working with Lauren on Scooby's separation anxiety and it has been such a great process so far. Easy scheduling, quick communication and everything is so organized. Love this team so much, can't thank you guys enough for all you have done for Scoob.”

“I cannot say enough good things about CCA, and Karishma's support. We've used many trainers, done classes both in-person and virtually, and this has been hands-down the best experience. Not that other trainers weren't good, but CCA feels a step above. Karishma's support is extremely detail-oriented, and we've really been able to see and celebrate progress with our anxious pup. I only wish I started this earlier! We did Fiesty Fido and are supplementing with privates, to help get into more specifics about what our pup needs. Don't hesitate, work with CCA!”

“After adopting my two rescue littermates, I thought I had gotten in over my head until I came across Calm Canine Academy! My first one-on-one was so incredibly helpful and thought out, I cried from relief! I was so impressed by the tools, the help breaking down my videos to talk about the dog's body language and the evaluation and kindness of everyone that it was an easy decision to sign up for the puppy class. Then, when I found out that I couldn't participate in the live sessions because of a time conflict on my end, I was still able to be a part of it all by reviewing the recorded class, going through the super well-crafted slides and the trainer-in-your pocket tool, which by far was my favorite! Couldn't be more pleased with everything and I can't wait to continue my dog's journey with Calm Canine Academy!”

“The folks at calm canine have been incredible! We’re working one on one with Ingrid who is wonderful at listening to our concerns and came up with an action plan that will help us give Finn the opportunity to live his best life! She has helped us learn so much about Finn’s body language and gives honest and thoughtful feedback on his progress. She has also given us a lot more confidence to manage Finn in tricky situations in a way that is safe and best for him. Gem has also been amazing to work with on the admin side, super quick responses and flexibility. 10/10!”

“UPDATE: We continue to love working with Karishma and everyone at Calm Canine Academy. I've been impressed with how well they have adjusted to a digital format. We have continued 30-minute private sessions to make sure Elphie is staying up to date with her behaviors and also working on ensuring a smooth transition once we can resume normal day-to-day interactions. Karishma is so helpful in figuring out what we need to do now to make it a smooth transition in the future! We have also been taking two of the digital group classes, Tricks 101 and Barkour. It's something fun and social to do right now, and I'm so impressed with Karishma's ability to help over video. We send video updates of our "homework" for each class during the week via a group chat with other students and receive feedback immediately. Barkour has helped me figure out a way to keep Elphie occupied while we spend so much time at home, and we can use regular household items. The classes are a good price, and the price is lower than other dog trainers offering similar options. While we are enjoying the current setup, Elphie still can't wait to see Karishma in person again! ORIGINAL REVIEW: My dog, Elphie, and I have worked with Karishma for almost two years. Elphie has some behavior issues, and Karishma has been wonderful with her. She understands the dog's needs and also takes time to understand the owners as well. We've taken many classes that Karishma has taught, where we have learned so much about behavior, tricks, and good manners. We've attended playtimes with other dogs where she can keep an eye on a small group of dogs and work individually on all of the needs each dog has. We've participated in one-on-one training with one other dog to encourage proper play behavior. And we've also had private training where Karishma has been able to come to my apartment and help me with issues Elphie has at home. Elphie works with Karishma every week. After every session, I get a write-up with notes and videos. The videos help me see the proper way to conduct training. Most importantly, my dog LOVES working with her, and I recommend her to anyone with the highest praise.”

“New York City can be daunting for humans and pets alike. Karishma has an uncanny ability to understand the psychology behind dogs and how to help them navigate and acclimate to city life. Her patience, insight and teaching methods are simply the best. We have had other trainers, but Karishma is in a league of her own. Her videos and follow-up give us the tools we need to reinforce what she has done in her training lessons. We feel so fortunate to have found Karishma and Calm Canine Academy.”

“I found Karishma after a friend referred me to her and what a blessing she has been! I have a tiny anxious Chihuahua who is not yet a year old and she is scared of everything: leash and harness, walking with a leash and a harness, strangers, elevators, dog carriers. I was going to travel with her overseas and I wanted to make sure that she would be as calm as possible. Karishma was amazing, she bonded with Kiki right away and helped me get Kiki used to her carrier for our big trip. Karishma goes above and beyond, giving detailed notes at the end of every session and also video! Seeing my puppy as she works with her is priceless. I was so happy with Kiki's progress that I booked day training sessions for her. Karishma would come to my apartment and train with Kiki twice a week to get her used to the elevator and eventually, head outside and face the world with her leash and her harness. While COVID-19 interrupted the day sessions right before Kiki could go outside, she has fully overcome her fear of elevators, something I never thought possible! Now I have to carry her out of the elevator every time because she wants to go inside and stay there. We also attended the playground to further socialize Kiki, and it's so nice to have a supervised playground that allows puppies beyond 4 months old, and that also sorts puppies by size and temperament. She made so many friends that it warmed my heart. If you are looking for a wonderful, dedicated, patient and kind trainer with an amazing team behind her, look no further than Karishma and Calm Canine Academy.”

“We were skeptical of doing puppy classes over Zoom, but they’ve been so helpful in getting us through the first three months of puppy parenthood! The WhatsApp group is a super helpful tool that we use to ask questions after little problems might arise here or there, and Karishma and Nicole always share really helpful resources that help meet us where we’re at in our training. We’re really looking forward to continuing group Zoom lessons through the adolescent masterclass!”

“While our dog was not a ""pandemic puppy"" she has had the unfortunate experience of spending almost her first full year of life in quarantine and thus lacks the confidence and social skills we want her to have to be successful. Initially was skeptical that a digital format wouldn't offer much value, having only ever trained in person, both group and 1-1 training. That said, I'm sure i'm not alone in the experience of having the trainer cue and support your dog in a behavior in class, only to feel miserably lost at home. I have to say I am TOTALLY sold on the incredible value that Calm Canine Academy offers! The digital format worked great, in fact, I think it was better than in person. In-person means other people energy, totally confident and competent trainers, not to mention dog energy and smells that are distracting. Doing the training in our home really allowed Willow to be comfortable. Karishma did an awesome job in ""god mode"" watching, making observations, and providing feedback on what she saw. It was clear that she's done her homework on both dogs AND humans and could pick up on even the smallest body language communications over zoom. She was also HILARIOUS - I felt like I was watching a Netflix documentary... I'm so hooked that I immediately signed up for some digital 1-1 training because I feel confident she can help me work to support my wonderful dog with some behaviors that are holding her back. 100% recommend!”

“We did a Zoom consultation with Ingrid who was so patient (we had a lot to discuss!), kind, and knowledgeable. Ingrid made us feel in control and provided us with games and strategies to help our often-anxious 3-year-old rescue feel calm and secure in stressful situations. We are already seeing a difference in our dog's behavior after only a few days of implementing the strategies, and we feel confident knowing that Ingrid is around if we need to schedule another session or have more questions. “LOVE these trainers and courses - my puppy came on in leaps and bounds once we started the puppy course and the Calm Canine course. It also helped ME understand how to deal with his behaviours and look for the underlying issues - and how not to be a pushy Mum! Trainers were always so good with feedback on the multiple videos I sent in for evaluation - timely and informative! The most important aspect for me is that it is totally NON AVERSIVE - we look at the true issue and deal with that in a positive non intimidating way!”

“My husband and I were skeptical about virtual training, but it turned out we were apprehensive for nothing! We enrolled our puppy in the Feisty Fido program and have slowly begun seeing some positive (relaxing!) changes in our high-drive, go-go-go, doesn't-know-how-to-relax, Mal puppy. The trainers at CCA gave us all the tools and resources to be the best trainer our puppy needed and were very responsive if we had any issues crop up or questions we needed answered. I would highly recommend them and plan to take their advanced class in the future!”

“Calm Canine Academy was recommended to me by a friend, so I was so happy when I reached out and met Nicole, who offers in-person training in New York City. My French bulldog puppy, Winston, and I had 8 in-person training sessions with Nicole, and we learned everything from basic commands including sit, down, & wait, to leash walking skills, crate training tools, and recall. I love that Calm Canine Academy uses only positive reinforcement with dogs, and Nicole truly helped me go at Winston’s pace to ensure that he got the most out of his training. We practice everything Nicole taught us on a daily basis, and Winston is growing up into such a calm, well-socialized dog. And anytime I have questions, Nicole is a phone call or text message away. Nicole recently stayed with Winston for 4 nights while I was out of town, and she took such good care of him; I think as happy as he was to see me when I got home, he was equally sad to see her go! It meant so much to me to know that he was in such good hands. I highly recommend Calm Canine Academy to anyone who is committed to training their puppy.”

“Nicole has been an unbelievable trainer for our pup Bruno. He originally was extremely scared and anxiety ridden living on a busy street in NYC. With Nicole's guidance, we have been able to fix issues of separation anxiety as well as anxiety on the street. Bruno absolutely adores working with Nicole because she prioritizes a positive reinforcement approach to training. As long time clients of CCA, we give our strongest recommendation!”

“I can't say enough positive things about Karishma and her team. We have been working with them for almost a year and they have taught us so much about our new puppy. Without them I don't think we would have survived the first year as puppy owners. We saw real results that were super useful. It was also really fun to learn about how our dog communicates with us. I really think of it as it's training for the humans to learn more about their dog. Will continue to use their services!!”

“I’ve worked with CCA since we first brought Charlie home as a 10 week old puppy. We’ve done group zoom puppy, intermediate, tricks, and advanced calm canine classes. “After two hours with Karishma, I learned so much and am so excited to continue with my rescued chispaniel, Frank Jr Jr's training. My perfect little friend needs some help with impulse control and general manners. Karishma asked tons of thoughtful questions, really listened to my concerns, and started teaching Frank (and me!) some vital fundamentals to help Frank be successful in the world. Dog trainers isn't just about training the dog - it's about training you, so it's important that the trainer have knowledge but also compassion for the owner. Karishma has this in spades. She was eager to help, non-judgemental, and I truly felt like she cared about our well-being. I wouldn't hesitate recommending Calm Canine to anyone looking for help with their pup.”

“Lauren at CCA has been amazing over the past 8 weeks. We've been part of the Feisty Fido course and it's already made such a difference to our boy Hudson who struggles with hypersarousal / stranger and dog reactivity/ sound sensitivity. Not only is the course really detailed but easy to understand, but Lauren has been amazing in her support with the Trainer In Your Pocket during the week between classes. After seeing multiple trainers in the past who have only made Hudson's issues worse by suppressing them rather than working on them, CCA have put us on the right path to a happy hound. We can't wait to continue working with them on the future. I can't recommend them enough!”
