I looked at a few vehicles and Carfax saved me from a few. The last one which is a 02 dodge durango which had a good Carfax report. I strongly recommend Carfax to anyone and next time I buy a car I will be using it again. Chance

I paid for a CarFax report on a vehicle I purchased on February 4, 2015. The CarFax report showed that it had only been on the east coast & in Colorado, with two owners, yet the paperwork in the glove box shows 4 owners & it has parking permit stickers on it from Hawaii. It also did not mention the fact that the horn does not function, the driver side airbag is not in place and the cruise control also does not work. It never said it was in an accident, yet the front bumper has several big cracks in it which tell me that the air bag deployed & was not replaced. The entire steering column components need replacement. The CarFax reports are very unreliable. My son experienced the same thing when he got a CarFax report on two other vehicles. Both vehicles had been in accidents which did not show up on the CarFax reports. This ended up costing us over $10K in repairs & he's selling his second vehicle he bought based upon a CarFax report of which we also spent about $10K fixing. We've lost money on multiple vehicles relying on CarFax. I highly recommend against relying on CarFax for anything relating to purchasing a used vehicle. This is the first time I have ever purchased a used vehicle in my life. I totalled my 2000 Toyora 4Runner LTD which was in excellent shape, wanted the same type of vehicle & this one has had more problems & been in the shop 4 times since I bought it. It's a piece of junk. Stay Away from CarFax unless you want a piece of junk vehicle.

I was in the process of buying a 1997 Jeep Wrangler with 103,000 miles. It was in mint condition and the milage was really low for the year of the vehicle. I was filling out the paper work for it but I had a feeling that I should look up the Carfax of the vehicle. Well, I found out that it actually had 198,000 miles and I confronted the dealership about it. They claimed it was a lie and that the carfax wasn't true. So I got up and walked out. If it wasn't for Carfax, I would have made a huge mistake.

I purchased a pristine 1992 Chevy Suburban. The seller had lied about backfees, a non-op status, and the smog stats. CarFax helped me prove the vehicle was a gross polluter and reverse our sale. I got my full payment returned, and avoided thousands of dollars in back fees!

After searching Internet and getting disappointed to see histories of many cars at attractive prices, finally I found my favorite car by searching carfax. The report for each car is there free of charge and you can find all marks and models.

Carfax saved me from buying a high mileage vehicle, listed as a low mileage vehicle. I went to buy a Tacoma. The owner said it only hadone 101k miles, however I ran the carfax and it showed 332k as the last know mileage. I ran far, far from that deal. I then checked out an actual low mileage truck, which was verified by carfax and have been happy ever since.

I purchased five reports and was very pleased with the results. When you are spending $20,000 plus you want all the information available. Three of the cars I found had been damaged and the dealers did not indicate this. One of the cars had been sideswiped and was damaged from the front fender all the way to the back. The price of the reports saved me heart ache and thousands of dollars.

After12 years of having the same car with only 60,000 miles on it, the car was totaled by a speeding car. With the help of a church friend and the use of carfax, I found the car I wanted. Several cars I looked at seemed okay until we took them to the mechanic. Pure Lemon! One dealer was even one of the larger dealerships. Carfax was easy to use and very informational. J.S.

I use carfax for literally all my used car purchases. It doesn't matter how nice the car looks inside and out and even if it comes off as original paint and well kept, there can always be a story behind. Ordering a carfax is well worth the money time and time again before jumping into a big investment like purchasing a used car. I highly recommend to everyone buying a used car to spend the extra money and buy the carfax so you can know exactly what you're getting!

I have been looking for the right car for myself for quite sometime. I ran into a few great cars, but when checking the carfax I noticed multiple red flags which ultimately led me to walk away. Then I finally find the car Ive been waiting for, but my friends tried cinvincing me that the mileage must be too good to be true. So, I carfaxed it, like anyone with common sense would. I was astonished to see all the maintenance and history records and everything was accurate. I am now the very proud owner of a 25,XXX miles 2002 Camaro SS! Thanks carfax!!

Carfax is a must nowadays. Ive run probably over 100 carfax reports on cars Ive been considering purchasing in the past 5 years or so. Many, many times it has saved me from buying a car that could have had serious issues or at the least would be hard to resell down the road. Its helped me in determining if sellers are truthful just in simply comparing things like length of ownership, amount of owners, whether they had it maintained at a certain dealership or not etc. But it has also saved me from buying several different vehicles with modified odometers. People dont realize how easy it is to change the mileage of cars these days. They seem to think if it has a digital odometer it cant be altered which just isn't true. I've personally passed on buying lots of cars because I was able to determine the mileage on the cars odometer wasnt the actual mileage, based on recent oil changes and mileages reported by carfax. In one instance I was looking at buying a vehicle that had 96,000 miles on it, I ran a carfax report and found out it was sold years earlier at a dealership with 170,000 miles on it. Thanks Carfax
