Carfax helped me steer clear of lemons as well as negotiate the best price for a used Land Rover. On one occasion, the engine in the actual used car did not match the engine listed on the Carfax. On one instance, I would have bought a salvage-titled vegicle that a shady dealer was trying to pass off as clean. I just bought a 2006 LR3 for 3k less than the sticker price, because between Carfax and listed book prices, I was able to convince them they had the car listed incorrectly (it was) and this was at a Reputable Honda Dealership!

I was looking for a late model KIA Hybrid, and found a 2013 one at our local KIA dealer ship here in Yuma, AZ. I had 13413 miles on it. I checked it out on your web site and found out that it had been purchased at a local auction and had a clean history. With this peace of mind I have become the new owner, I put about two thousand miles on it the past few weeks, no problems and a great car. Thank you ! for your reports Bob in Yuma

I was able to see the entire history of the car I wanted to purchase. Knowing I was armed with the information I needed, I bought the car and have not been disappointed. I wouldn't ever buy a car without looking at the CARFAX first!

I always rely on your reports before buying a used car. Your reports are always perfect and right on . I supposed you do not know the DEALER SELLING the car. This dealer in CT. is a crook, sold me 2004 Lincoln Town Car, would not give me my money My wife found 50+ repairs on this dealer on line all bad. He would not take my insurance companies INSURANCE BINDER, clearly showing I was insured and had vin # on en used car I was buying. I was simply transferring insurance from by other car that car been totaled in snow storm. The insurance covers 2 cars I own and paid entire year in advance. They made me buy Progressive insurance just to drive car from CT back you NH. I even had my plate with me. SEE email reference # 00610696. This is in no way your fault nor do I blame you and will always will use you. It's too bad no one ever told you the "air Ride was removed. Error message came on 5 miles down road and I turned around said fix it and call me. They kept it for a week, then told it had been air suspensions had been removed. Also in way home dashboard Instrument cluster went black. It's going to cost $665.00 to buy + labor., Cruise control does not work. Got a flat tire in 50 miles. and many more. Maybe you could provide info line that we could write who car dealer is, and get info that they are good to bad! Richard Pupi bosen@msn.com

I was about to buy my car, but I didn't have peace about it. So I ask the private sellers to give me a couple minutes, and I went on my phone, and within a minute, using the Vin number, I was able to have the peace of mind that I needed to secure the deal. All the info that they gave me, checked out.

I was very satisfied with the Carfax service. I am new in the US and i wanted to get a used car and if it wasn't for carfax service, I would have ended up buying a car with a bad history. I would recommend used car buyers to use the service of carfax so that you are well aware of the history and to gain insight of how the car has been used or maintained.

Carfax was invaluable in helping me find a good deal on a car. My only former car purchase had been in lazy, small town Hawaii, where in my craigslist search I mostly met nice people with unabashedly shitty cars. Los Angeles was a different story. Carfax helped me avoid at least two scams: one in which the odometer had been rolled back and one in which the seller didn't have title of the car. I stopped even calling people when the Carfax report showed any problems. The car I ultimately purchased, I purchased due to Carfax. It was priced a little higher than the Blue Book value and had a few more miles on it that I initially wanted, so I might not have even contacted the seller if I hadn't used the license plate number on the craigslist photos to prescreen it. However, the Carfax report was easily five pages long, showing that the single seller had done every single recommended maintenance on time, at the dealership. I knew it was worth the price and contacted the seller immediately. I was the first person the buyer contacted and I met his asking price, so we both walked away from the transaction happy. I showed him his own Carfax report the day I bought the car and I think he might have wondered if he could have charged and even higher price, considering there was a verifiable record of his good service habits. I know that I intend to take the car to shops that I know report to Carfax so I can maintain the car's good record for when I sell it in the future. Before my 1 month of unlimited reports expired, I ordered the Carfax reports for my parent's cars, just in case they wanted to sell, because I think it's worth it for the seller to do a check as well. My mom found out that another dealer may have tried to offer a car for sale under her VIN number and is contacting her insurance company to report potential fraud. All around, I think using Carfax was definitely worth the money.

In purchasing a used vehicle, the sole consistent identification of the vehicle is and remains the VIN. To offer a service where one needs the state license tag number is useless.

I called about a car for sale by owner about 2 hours from where I live. It was a fairly low price for a car that appeared to be in great shape. I had a few telephone conversations with the owner and I was about to drive out and make an offer. I called one last time and requested the VIN# so I could run it through car fax. That's when he decided to mention the car had been in a flood once. I didn't even have to run the report. Saved me a long drive and quite possibly from purchasing a huge lemon. Thanks.

Well the carfax said everything looked good on the car. Clean title no wrecks good service record. It was a Mazda 3. So I bought the car and it started acting funny. The rpms were all over the place they wouldn't hold and it ended up causing me to lose control in the winter do a 180 hitting a wall with the back end. It just scuffed the bumper and bent the exhaust a little(I was going maybe 20 mph). The dealer did the repair and took me around to look at it, showing where paint was under the door handle and how some emblems are missing but were found cleaning the vehicle under the seats. Apparently the car had been wrecked twice before me. I had to trade it in because nobody would buy it. Carfax, a complete waste of my money. I forgot this situation because it was about 5 years ago and paid for it again! Don't bother. Get a body shop to look at a car you want to buy.

We will never again buy a used car without a CARFAX report!! We bought a used pickup truck and got a report from another company instead of CARFAX. At one year plus a few days, with only 5,000 miles logged by us, the transmission broke down. Dealer would not make any allowance on repairing or replacing the transmission. I decided to run a CARFAX report on the vehicle and found out the truck had been in for transmission repairs in the beginning of October 2012 and went back to the dealer on October 25, 2012, was resold on December 1, 2012 and then went in for transmission repair again in the beginning of January, 2013, and went back to the dealer on January 10, 2013. Dealer had truck until April 1, 2013 when we purchased the vehicle! They had given us a report from another auto report company which only stated that it had no accident or insurance claims!! If we had been given the CARFAX report which had over 30 entries, we never would have purchased it!! With the CARFAX report in hand we confronted the dealer and he agreed to give us one half off the repair...thanks to CARFAX !!

Paid for a Carfax report for my own vehicle, found erroneous information that would negatively affect my trade-in value.

I was helping my daughter find her first car. She found a 1992 Cadillac Coupe Deville in excellent condition. We were given a long story on the history of the car and began to question the actual condition. I suggested to her that we use Car Fax. We discovered she found a cream puff. The car had 69,000 original miles, my daughter is the third owner and it was not registered for 8 yrs. She has her dream car.

I was looking at buying a car off Ebay. The car was actually available to look at locally. I went to look at the car and the salesman was telling me that it was only a one owner vehicle and had always been in our state. When I pulled the Carfax, I found out there had been at least 4 owners and the car had been through 4 different states. It also showed no service records for 18 months. I went ahead and passed on the car.

I knew that the car I was buying for my grandaughter Delaney was the one destined to be hers. The CARFAX report listed all the maintenance that had been done on a routine basis by DELANEYMOTORS.COM. Must have been fate. Anthony Banaszewski

CARFAX made it possible to compare cars on another level. Not just using car reviews, and Blue book values, but to also realistically judge the cars worth by how many owners, if it was in an accident, if the car is registered, etc. if anyone is looking to buy a used/previously owned vehicle, it pays to do your homework. And CARFAX made it my decision to settle on purchasing a car a lot easier. Mahalo CARFAX!

I recently went through a search of used cars in our area to find a solid first car for my 16 year old son. CarFax didn't help me find a car as much as it helped me weed out the bad cars and things people were hiding in their ads and under the hood. The fee to run multiple CarFax reports was worth every penny. I highly recommend this service for anyone shopping for used cars.

We first found the Car at the used car dealership. This car was for our son. We wanted him to learn the proper way to shop for a car. We told him the first thing to ask for on any car is ask for the Carfax. As we have learned to do in the past. This would be the deciding factor and not just the looks of the car. So when we read the carfax we found that the vehicle he was looking at had been owned by a corporation and that all the maintenance on the car had been taken care of and the Miles on the car were mostly highway miles. We immediately purchased this car because of the excellent history that we were able to learn if it hadn't been for carfax. Don't ever purchase a car less you first check Carfax!
