Carfax cost us $9000 in trade in value. We were told by our insurance company and the other responsible party's insurance company that the car was NOT totaled after an accident. However Carfax reported that it was totaled so we lost money on the trade in. We didn't know how to contact anyone at carfax and had no choice but to take it. We're not at all impressed by carfax.

1. I understood your rate was like $25.00. Your fee was $54.00. You gave me the information regarding if the car was in an accident, not what the price of the car should be. I never bought the car because because it was to big for my garage also she wanted a deposit but not ready to sell for couple of months while she is using the car. This was my first experience with you and I think $54.00 is to much just for one car information.

You report half truths and lies that can't be verified . And when I aske for your verification or justification of what's in your report you can't prove your findings. I'll never your your service again or rely on the BS that is posted in it!!!!!

You don't want me to share my story because it proves Carfax is a horrible organization and should be shut down. No one should trust it ever. No one should waste their money getting a carfax. Some one somewhere needs to have enough power and influence to shut it down because everything I tried never changed how this organization operates. Fake fake fake fake. Lie lie lie lie. Rip off rip off rip off rip off. They even use great organizations like car repair places to make a car sound like a great buy. Way to use use use businesses that do their job. Carfax you need to start doing your job and earn your money.

I paid for a CarFax report on a vehicle I purchased on February 4, 2015. The CarFax report showed that it had only been on the east coast & in Colorado, with two owners, yet the paperwork in the glove box shows 4 owners & it has parking permit stickers on it from Hawaii. It also did not mention the fact that the horn does not function, the driver side airbag is not in place and the cruise control also does not work. It never said it was in an accident, yet the front bumper has several big cracks in it which tell me that the air bag deployed & was not replaced. The entire steering column components need replacement. The CarFax reports are very unreliable. My son experienced the same thing when he got a CarFax report on two other vehicles. Both vehicles had been in accidents which did not show up on the CarFax reports. This ended up costing us over $10K in repairs & he's selling his second vehicle he bought based upon a CarFax report of which we also spent about $10K fixing. We've lost money on multiple vehicles relying on CarFax. I highly recommend against relying on CarFax for anything relating to purchasing a used vehicle. This is the first time I have ever purchased a used vehicle in my life. I totalled my 2000 Toyora 4Runner LTD which was in excellent shape, wanted the same type of vehicle & this one has had more problems & been in the shop 4 times since I bought it. It's a piece of junk. Stay Away from CarFax unless you want a piece of junk vehicle.

Carfax gave me a incorrect car report and no one would return my emails. I am hoping to get a refund but most likely this U.S. based company does not care about canadian customers.

bought a 2005 dodge cumings diesel 2500 slt last year. Before I bought the truck I ran a car fax on it and it come back with no accidents or any red flags in the history report, so I made the purchase. Almost one year later, I pulled the report again, and now car fax showed a total loss in the history. I contacted car fax and inquired about this, the representative said that there was a police report filed that said the truck was involve in an accident and they had to put that on the car fax history. She also asked me if I had printed a report of the car fax when I pulled it. I did not, but, the car fax representative knew that a report was pulled about the time I purchased my truck, but said she did not know what that report said (Ofcourse not). Needless to say if I had that information I would have not purchased that truck either.

horrible , I tried several carfax for a tacoma 1st generation, all frames rusted like cheese holes and dealers proud of a clean carfax, when an issue is so BIG that 800,000 frames or more affected CARFAX should have clear disclose of how wrong to sell tacomas without testing frame at the toyota dealer. Seems they cover or dont care the dishonesty of toyota and dealers kicking the trucks having customers stucked with a junk nice looking but useless frame truck.

I ran a car fax at my own expense on a 2005 Infiniti G35 coupe in Houston, TX and it came back clean so I arranged with seller for test drive. At that time the seller showed me the car had a "salvage title" from Maryland. What happened CarFax? You fumbled big time and wasted my money. My recommendation is to buy certified pre-owned from a reputable dealer.

First, Carfax is not reliable at all. A lot of issues won't be reflected on it. Second, Carfax is way overpriced. I purchased a so-called unlimited package, and it only included 5 reports with VIN and it expired in a month! It was so ironic that how can something unlimited expire?

I paid for a Carfax report that showed that a car I was interested in was fine, but then purchased a report from another service that showed that the vehicle had been stolen, involved in several accidents, and had almost 3 times the kilometers on it compared to the odometer reading. Sorry Carfax, but I won't be buying from you in the future. I may still ask for a refund. Sincerely, Don Green Dongreen@shaw.ca

Limiting the number of VIN lookups is extremely poor business. It is not explicitly stated anywhere before purchasing the subscription (that I could find) and it is the most common number people selling cars are listing.

I ordered one Carfax report for the specific car I was interested in, and they instead gave me the unlimited package, overcharging me $15. They did not respond to requests to refund the difference.

I signed up for one (1) CarFax for $39.95. CarFax charged me for five (5) quotes at $54.95, and they will not respond to my repeated complaint.

Was going to buy a new motorcycle and decided to do a background check useing a car fax on the vehicle. seeing how at the time its was $40 for 1 report and $50 for 5, I went for the 5 as it was a better deal. When I got the car fax, it was so incomplete that it didn't even have the current owner on it. He had the title and everything and the report only had a record of the bike being sold once, when it was clear to me that there would have to have been 3 owners before me. I didn't see anything wrong with the bike and the car fax was clean, so I bought it and no problem at the DMV. After that I started pulling reports for fun and then AFTER PULLING 4 REPORTS OUT OF THE 5 I PAYED FOR, OT SAID NO MORE REPORTS REMAINING. DO NOT USE FOR MOTORCYCLES!!!!!!
