I was in the market for a pre-owned car and decided to look on Craigslist. Of course I needed validation of what was being represented in the advertisement and knew of Carfax so that was my next logical step. When I went to the Carfax site, I was presented with 3 options, I chose what I thought was the best value with "Unlimited Searches" only to find out that unlimited means 5 VIN number searches and then unlimited if you know the, or the automobile happens to have a, license plate number. (Note to Carfax, not all cars for resale have a license plate.) As it turns out, the car I was interested in was "#6" so I was forced to purchase another search, which the site really doesn't want to do so I had to set up a new account as well. My question: Who makes the Carfax to check on Carfax?

this have been the best $55 dolars I have ever spent, I was in love with a nice grand caravan that was on sale on my town and just before the payment to the seller I checked the story of the car on carfax.com and I discovered some small "issues" on the mini-van, but they helped me to re-negotiate the final price of the car and I went home with the car and few hundreds on my pocket saved. I will do the carfax review every time I need another car for me or family

I found a 2013 BMW X3. The dealership didn't have a CARFAX but said it wasn't wreaked. I wanted to feel secure so I bought the CARFAX and it said No accidents. That made me feel great when I bought the SUV. Thanks CARFAX

Was searching online for a Jeep Wrangler...After weeks of searching the internet, I found the perfect Jeep......Seller had no CarFax. So I signed up for unlimited carfaxs for a month, just in case I needed to find another Jeep. I signed in with the car lisence plate and in a couple minutes found that the odometer had been rolled back 40,000 miles. I notified the owner who had no idea since it was rolled back in 2010 and she had purchased it in 2013...Told the owner I could't buy her Jeep, as it would be difficult for me to sell later with this problem...I was very disapointed, but 2 days later found a much better Jeep for $2000 less. I'll never buy a used car again without a CARFAX........... Thanks CarFax for saving me $2000, plus avoiding a major problem............ R.D. Smith Indio, Ca.

Carfax helped ease my mind. I was worried because I purchased a used car with only 30,000 miles. It is a 2003, so I started thinking this sounds to good to be true. So I purchased my Carfax report after I purchased my car. I know that is not to smart. When I got my report I felt better knowing that the mileage had not been tampered with. I really lucked out because nothing bad had ever been reported on the car. The previous owners just didn't drive much at all. But I will be sure to get a Carfax report before I buy another used car. The reports contain a lot of useful information in them. Plus you can't go wrong with the buy back guarantee. I wish I would have purchased a report for the two previous used cars I got burned on. So I highly recommend that you get your Carfax reports before handing over any money. Like I said I just happened to luck out this time.

We had an opportunity to buy a 2011 Volkswagen EOS with some minor body damage. We took the car to a body shop to get an estimate to repair. The body shop insisted that the car had been repaired previously. Not only did the Carfax report show no prior accidents, but we found out that the car had been meticulously maintained by the prior owner. We bought the car and my son is thrilled.

Was about to buy a 2005 Honda Accord, the guy said he was selling for his elderly neighbor who was the original owner but she couldn't drive anymore. He would not meet at his house but in a parking lot, after running the CARFAX I found out he was the third owner, the car was involved in a front end collision, had to be towed, and was a different color than the registration. As soon as I ran the CARFAX on my tablet the guy got nervous , got into the car without saying a word and drove off! You can't make this stuff up!Thanks car fax! Mike A.

Easy to use selling tool to list list your car, for sale. Provides many selling options, from Standard listing to VIP. Gives the flexibility to begin with a Standard Listing then have the ability to easily improve your listing, one or more upgrades at a time. The best thing is that you have a chance to WIN a CARFOX; which i hope i win because if not, i may change my opinion about AutoTrader. Ha (but kinda serious)

I went to the dealer to buy my car and asked for a carfax before I purchased it. To my astonishment the salesman kept telling me heres the car fox, and kept mumbling about a double rainbow and tears of joy that never felt so sad. It was like they were speaking another language. I kept insisting that he had the option of giving me a car fax maybe. Well After I got home I ran the real carfax on it and it showed over several Major accidents and a salvage title. It makes sense now how the grill, tail lights, both doors and hood don't line up well. Also I finally know that the water stain line on the headliner wasn't a factory installed option like the salesman said. I called them Monday to complain about the "speed stain lines" and salvage thing. They told me it was most likely caused by a "loose nut behind the wheel" I don't know what that has to do with any of my concerns but they advised me to take the car to a specially trained 4 cylinder flcks capacitor shop. I have been calling around and have no idea who specializes in these. I guess its a very complicated vehicle because all the automotive shops I call (that don't immediately hang up on me) just sit there on the phone and laugh for 5 minutes straight and wont answer any of my questions. I called my dealer back and they said the ones furthest away are the ones i need to go to. Specialty shops aside I know they must be out there because I see a few of my same car on the road from time to time. I should have bought the less expensive model instead of the "Leymon Steemer performance package" as the sales man told me. Nothing about this car feels like it has any performance package. Id sure hate to be stuck with the standard base model though. This car creeks, sways, and wanders aggressively enough even with the suspension package. I feel sorry for the owners of the base models I see on the road. They don't even have the "semi slick willy" speed tires (slick on the inside and tread on the outside) pretty cool. (inside also has speed grabber lines showing through) I wish I did the car fax sooner.

We were buying a car at a government auction. We were able to very quickly confirm that this car had, indeed, gone straight from the factory to the car lot to the same small city where it spent its entire service. The car was a gem, and we are very happy with it!

I was looking at a used car from a used car dealership, the price was more than reasonable and I was assured the car was in great condition. I was able to tell that the car was repainted not very well which isn't realy an issue for me but made me question the quality of the car and why it was repainted. Come to find out by checking the carfax the car had been in a multiple vehicle accident with severe damage, and also in a flood. Those are two huge things I wish I found out before wasting my time to check out the car because the dealer lied to me about the history. Now when checking out a good deal on a vehicle I know to check the carfax history report so I can truly find out the history and quality of a car. Couldn't be more happy and satisfied spending the money to use carfax.

I was very hesitant while trying to purchase a used car for my daughter. Having the car fax report was very empowering. It gave me the information I wanted, and steered me toward information I needed that wasn't even originally on my radar. The car we ultimately bought I purchased the car fax for myself as the dealer used another reporting service. He was surprised that I had information that wasn't even on his report, such as a minor accident the car had been in. I was very pleased with my car fax experience.

I found a 2005 Buick Rendezvous that I was ready to buy. However, I checked CarfAX AND FOUND ODOMETER DISCrepancies in the service records. I abandoned that purchase and found a 2006 that was a better buy & had a great CarfAX report.

Got top dollar value for my 1997 honda civic thanks to CARFAX. I sold my car to guy saying that he has been in the market to buy a honda civic but no body was able t o show him the history of their cars. He paid almost full amount of my asking because he was convinced that he was buying a great car backed up with the CARFAX.

I was in the market for a early 2000's honda accord. I had reviewed several websites, sale by owner. One, in particular, had advertised the car as a 2002 Honda with a 4 cylinder v-tec engine, the exact engine that I was hoping for. I sent a text message to the owner and asked to see the vehicle. We made an appointment for later that afternoon. I reviewed the post again and decided that before I went to the appointment I should go check the CarFax. I had been looking at so many cars online that I decided to get the "unlimited" option. I downloaded the license number, another great CarFax option, and the car information popped-up. To my surprise, the car was not a 2002, it was a 2001. The engine, the most important thing I was looking for, was not a 4 cylinder v-tec, but the more unreliable and gas hungry 6 cylinder. Needless to say, I contacted the owner and cancelled the appointment. That afternoon, I found another car online. Before I even contacted the owner, I accessed my "unlimited" CarFax and got all the information. One of the most important things that it demonstrated was the service record, which fortunately was noted as being from the local Honda dealership, a dealership know for good workmanship. The car was thirteen years old, and CarFax had its entire history right there in black and white. I made the appointment. The owner showed up with all the maintenance paperwork and needless to say it matched almost to the letter with the documentation found on the CarFax. I am a believer. Next time I am looking for a car, I simply won't waste my time...I will get the CarFax.
