I was looking to purchase a truck from another state and the seller appeared to be a trustworthy individual. CAFAX gave me the peace of mind that I was making a good decision.

Made me aware of market value of my vehicle. Able to purchase new vehicle armed with this information.

CARFAX gave a value just over BlueBook where my new-to-me vehicle and 15% below BlueBook reside. CARFAX shows very well held to service interval(s). That pleased me. One thing I do wish CARFAX shows or does not show if not work performed on vehicle. My vehicle has a reputation regarding timing belts and transmissions. No services done on either according to CARFAX. Does that mean I'd better get a local garage NOW or CARFAX doesn't show such data. Please let me know what you know.

I was all set to purchase a slightly used truck from an out of state dealer for over 40K. A Dealer Auto Check was forwarded to me which stated that this truck was a "One Owner", "Accident Free" vehicle. This major dealership had excellent online reviews so I was ready to commit. At the last minute I decided to run a CARFAX on this vehicle before making the long trek to complete the purchase. Unfortunately, the CARFAX I received on this truck provided a completely different story. "Three Owners" and "One Minor Accident". The CARFAX also stated that this truck had been purchased and driven in Canada until recently when the State of Ohio took possession of it and ultimately put it up for auction. The odometer was converted from kilometers to mph and my assumption was that it might have been involved in some illicit activity. I felt like there was too much history for a truck at this price so I called the dealer and backed out of the deal. I should also mention that the Salesman seemed surprised at my findings so I forwarded him a copy of my CARFAX. Best $30 I have spent in a long time and not the first time that CARFAX has saved me from making a bad deal!!

I needed to verify the past ownership and title history of a Thunderbird Sport I was interested in buying. Everything checked out about what the seller said about the car. It truly is a two owner car before I bought it in December of 2017. There were approximately 7,000 1992 Thunderbird Sports produced and I own one of them. It's a good car and it's getting the repairs and maintenance it needs. Thanks Carfax!

I've always relied on CARFAX when buying a vehicle, but the last time I used CARFAX was the best. I had sold a truck to a guy out of state. He paid cash and headed back home with the truck. Two months after the sale, I received a notice from the buyer's state transit authority saying I owed $160 for several drive throughs at toll booths. They had photographs of my truck with my expired plates flying through these booths. In order to fight these charges, I had to set up a court date out of state. Instead of appearing in person out of state, I was able to send the CARFAX report that clearly indicated that the vehicle had been sold, was no longer in my name and the plates on the truck were expired and therefore stolen. It was the fastest way to resolve the issue. I had the proof in my hand with CARFAX faster than I ever could've done so through my state's DMV. I love CARFAX!

We found the car that we had been looking for, and it was almost too good to be true. A 2016 Ford Explorer, very well equipped, with only 8,112 miles on it! I was a little bit leery of the car wondering why someone would get rid of it with such low miles. The car still has the 'new car smell'. I wondered if it could have been a 'lemon' with multiple problems. I got a CARFAX on the vehicle and it had a very good record of the history from purchase up to the time that this dealer had it up for sale. No problems! So we purchased the car, and absolutely love it! Thanks CarFax!!!

The seller (dealer) had the full CARFAX report available FREE online. The report had all the service details of the vehicle--oil changes, etc.--because they'd been done at the dealer. The vehicle had very low mileage, and because the CARFAX report had the date and mileage of service, I could tell the vehicle had been driven occasionally throughout its three-year life. I bought it sight unseen--could tell it was MORE than the vehicle I'd been looking for over the past several months.

I was about to buy a van this past January. The odometer showed about 120,000 miles. That is not a lot of miles for a van as I get well over 200,000 miles on a delivery van with proper maintenance. The were a couple things done to the van that were a bit inconsistent with a relatively low milage. At the time, there was news about flood damaged vehicles turning up at dealerships in the mid-west. My brother suggested a Carfax. So I ordered one myself and to my surprise, found that the odometer had been rolled 133,000 miles!!! The guy that owned it took it off the market because it was done before he purchased the vehicle. $39 well spent. ( my brother is always right)

I felt confident buying a used car knowing it's history and verifying there were no accidents. Purchasing a used car is risky and I believe car fax eliminates as much of the risk as possible.

In December 2017 I purchased a 2005 Camry with 69,700 miles for my son. So I thougt. After the purchase found an old oil change sticker in the glove box that said the car had 280,000 plus miles. Bought a Carfax and confirmed the miles was in the 280+ K range. I filed a police report against the person which is currently pending and that person is being charged with odometer fraud and some other charges. A month later that same 2005 Camry was in a winter car accident and was totaled no injuries involved. I then purchased a Carfax each time I had a car that I was interested in possibly buying. Out of the four cars that I CarFaxed two had good normal histories, One had a reported total loss from the insurance company the seller failed to mention, and the one I bought had a perfect Carfax history with service records from the date of purchase with 55,000 actual miles confirmed by the Carfax services records reported. So I learned my lesson the hard way by not doing a Carfax on the first car. Now it’s saved me from buying a total loss car and finding the perfect car with service history and documented miles. Thank you Carfax, Anthony

My husband was buying a truck from a coworker. He swore up and down that the vehicle had never been in a wreck, clean title. After seeing a few questionable bumps and bruises on the vehicle, we went ahead and got a car fax. Come to find out, it had 2 accidents! There were many excuses for this person not disclosing this information, however, thanks to carfax, people are forced to be honest! Thanks for saving us hundreds of dollars on this purchase!!!

Saved me numerous of times... You can’t trust any of these private sellers now adays, even some dealers. Carfax showed me a true background check from the date of first purchase. Gives you a great idea of what you are actually getting into!
