I was about to buy a 2014 ford fusion. Fully loaded. Really impressive for a ford. Before I was signing the papers I asked my wife to look it over thru car fax. She called me and told me "don't sighn" the car had been in a major flood&had a salvaged title! I'm so glad we checked car fax! Other wise I would have bought a really nice lemon! :)

I was going to buy a truck that was way under book value. I thought it was a steal for the price. The truck was in great condition. That was until I ran the car fax and determined it was in a flood and also in a serious accident.

Caught one potential great buy that had been sent to the crusher. Cloned maybe. Found another great buy that was flood damaged. Car fax saved my a$$.

When a used Lexus came available in my neighborhood there was no hesitation in test driving it. What I found was a slight pull on the highway so immediately CarFax was the first place to check the vehicle history. The 10 year old sedan had been owned by one person and all service was done at the dealership, showing no incidence of repairs from accidents. Thank you CarFax! I couldn't feel more secure with my purchase thanks to you. -Cleveland Jonny

Although I did not purchase as the result of my search I did enjoy the CARFAX experience very much and was amazed at the detail provided on both vehicles that I researched. Have and will recommend to friends. Thank you! Rick Mc

Used carfax to narrow down viable cars i would consider. Didnt like that you only got 5 VIN checks with the unlimited package. Im guessing this is to force dealers to use carfax and not Autocheck. Until you pay you dont realize that as most people will just see unlimited and then learn after the fact, just seems like a crappy way to do busness. That aside, the carfax was valuable and did proceed on my purchase based on the carfax

My story is pretty boring. I found a one owner, low mileage, 10 year old car, without accidents and car fax gave me the confidence to make an offer and purchase the vehicle on the spot.

I paid for a Carfax report that showed that a car I was interested in was fine, but then purchased a report from another service that showed that the vehicle had been stolen, involved in several accidents, and had almost 3 times the kilometers on it compared to the odometer reading. Sorry Carfax, but I won't be buying from you in the future. I may still ask for a refund. Sincerely, Don Green Dongreen@shaw.ca

We used Carfax first to sell our used car, which sold in less than an hr, as we advertised that we'd supply the Carfax report to show the car's history. Now we're using it again to find our next vehicle: it saved us from purchasing a "lemon" w/ a dubious ownership history. The Carfax report showed a "time hole" in the ownership history-this explained why the owner listed the car (for the given year & low mileage) @ such a great price. When confronted with our questions the owner finally fessed up that it had been obtained at an auction, this was after much "stalling" on providing answers to our repeated requests for "more info".

I tried to use Car Fax and only got on line once. I did not buy the car. I tried to go on line again and never could get on your site. I was supposed to have 3 months service and got only a day or two.

I really liked a 2009 Ford F150 I was looking at. But, the mileage just seemed to low to be true. Thanks to CarFax, I was able to verify that everything the owner had told me was true about the truck and I ended up with a great low mileage vehicle. -Steve A.

Bought a used car with increased confidence after positive car fax report. A couple of weeks later purchased a great used motorhome at a great price with a positive car fax.

I was looking for a car to replace my wife's buick, which had died, and saw a Subaru Baja at a local "buy here, pay here" dealer. I have heard many horror stories abut this dealer so I was leery of making an offer on the car. I took down the VIN and ran it through CarFax. It cam back clean and well maintained. All the records were there so I went ahead and made an offer contingent on me acquiring my own financing. When I went to the lender and showed him I had the CarFax already, he approved the loan on the spot. I returned to the dealer and bought the car. I have had no trouble with it and feel that my CarFax experience was what convinced me to make the purchase. For my money, CarFax is a great auto shopping tool and I recommend it to everyone who is car shopping.

I found a near perfect vehicle for a reasonable price, and even avoided a wrecked version of the same vehicle, which I promptly reported.

I was looking for a Civic Hybrid late in 2014. I found one on Craigslist with 122k miles for $4500. The ad said it was a 2005 with a clean title. I met the guy at a local Walgreens, drove it, and had my mechanic check it out. It looked and ran good, so I offered $4150 and got the car. When I got home that night I looked at the bill of sale, and the mileage was listed as TMU (True Mileage Unknown). After googling to find out what TMU meant, I called the guy. I was livid, but he assured me it was just a generic bill of sale from the internet, and he would print me another with the right mileage. I went by his house the next day, and got the new invoice. I felt good at that point. The next morning, I was getting ready to go to the MVD to get the new title and plates. At the last minute I decided to pull up a CARFAX. The car had 212k miles in 2012!!!! I showed up at his house, CARFAX in had, and got my money back. I ended up spending a little more on a 2008, with a clean CARFAX, and I love my new car. Thank you CARFAX for saving me from a certain disaster. I will NEVER buy another car without first getting the CARFAX!!!!!

I started looking for a tow vehicle for my 5th wheel toyhauler. I've never tHoughton twice about shopping across the country. Ebay, craigslist, truck trader. Com. Etc. It's a great way to compare similar vehicles. Many times when the price looked good I would resor to carfax only to find milage discrepancies or salvage titles. Until my last find locally on Luke AFB. Price seamed too good so again I went to carfax, this time I found a 1 owner vehicle with a clean title. The owner handed me every receipt since the vehicle rolled off the show room floor. I now own a 2007 f350 and am shopping for a toyhauler ( I will be using carfax for the camper too)

I was interested in buying a Lexus RX. The seller told me he was the second owner , it had new brakes , timing belt and other things had been repaired in the last six months. When I checked Carfax I found that these things had been done but 2 years ago and the rotars had to be replaced again. As well the car was bought in Texas , bought back by the dealer because of so many problems ( it was given a LEMON designation ) , sold again as a fleet car , Then sold at an auction in Atlanta to a couple from Florida and finally to the person I was dealing with. Needless to say I didn't buy the vehicle . Thank God for Carfax.

Not every single thing -- good or bad -- that has happened to a car is listed in its CarFax. There may be some service work done and/or some problems that occurred, that are not listed. So I don't think CarFax saves you from needing to check-out a car in person and to have it looked at by a mechanic. But the info that *IS* listed in CarFax seems to be very reliable. Definitely an important tool in shopping before buying a car. Definitely recommended. And the monthly pass is only a few $ more than the individual, so I recommend the monthly pass.

Carfax enabled me to get a complete history on a ten year old car. This let me know the car had been well cared for by the original owner. Raised my comfort level with this car. Thanks for your help on this car.
