I was in the market for a used Cadillac and I discovered a dealer that had a 2003 Cadillac DHS for sale for $3200. The pictures that the dealer showed online showed pictures of a well kept vehicle free from visible dents and there was no disclosure of any mechanical issues whatsoever. When I arrived at the dealership, I discovered a totally different vehicle which had visible signs of body damage, cracked windshield, and a broken rear driver's side window. The car dealer assured me that despite the " wear and tear " on the vehicle, the vehicle was mechanically sound. I no longer trusted this dealer, so I downloaded the CarFax app for my smartphone and ran a vehicle history report on this vehicle to discover that this "mechanically sound" vehicle had reported collision damage as reported by CarFax! CarFax just saved me over $3200!!!

As we all know, buying a car from an individual you do not know is a little scary. After asking the person a lot of questions and taking notes I got a Carfax report which verified everything they said.Peace of mind is the one luxury we need when buying a used vehicle.

I didn't purchase a vehicle because I did have the carfax report which showed the vehicle had been in an accident. I'm still looking and will use carfax report on the next vehicle I'm interested in purchasing.

Thanks for helping me avoid a questionable purchase recently. I visited a used car dealer and test drove a 2008 Chevy HHR that looked great. I asked for the CARFAX and the sales rep gave me your competitor's report instead. That report just mentioned an accident and the rep brushed it off as nothing significant. I went home and purchased the CARFAX on the car and found where the damage was, where it happened and more. That led me to think more than twice about the dealership and the car. I kept looking and found a dealer that gave free CARFAX reports for each car on its website. I purchased a Hyundai-certified car and now I'm a happy driver. I have used your reports for many years and would never purchase a used car without a CARFAX.

Recently, I was in the market to buy my first family SUV. I was looking into several models including GMC Envoy, Yukon and Chevy Tahoe. After keeping an eye out on Craigslist, Autotrader.com and Cars.com, I thought I found my ideal truck my 2005 GMC envoy. I decided to make an offer and drive close to 4 hours to go pick up the vehicle. Once I was there looking at the final product I noticed that there was a lot of rust including in the air intake, and under the seats so I decided to run a CarFax, it turns out the truck was registered in New York, and even if the seller never admitted, Immediately I knew it was involved in Hurricane Sandy. These $40 dollars where the best $40 dollars I have ever saved- They saved me thousands lost in future repairs! Thank You CarFax!

We were looking for a used vehicle for our 16 year old, she was buying the vehicle herself with money she had saved. Nothing fancy but a reliable car that would get to and from school. She looked at all the "Sporty" looking vehicles that appeared great on the outside. I told her we should use carfax just to make sure. The first car that she was ready to put money down on from a dealer we used carfax and found out that it was a total loss and was in 6 major accidents. These are details the dealer did not disclose and just by looking at the vehicle, you would have never known...not a scratch on it! A total loss vehicle can have major frame damage that you can not see just by looking at it. Thanks carfax for saving us on that one! We also looked at a vehicle and the odometer did not match up with carfax listing and again, carfax saved us! 100,000 extra miles on this car that had been rolled back. We did end up running a carfax report on a used Honda that came up as a 2 owner vehicle that was maintained beautifully! I did not realize that carfax even listed oil changes and maintenance records. We ended up with a great deal of a car and felt secure using carfax to check the records. Carfax is a must and worth every penny!! Thank you Carfax!!

I was looking in Florida for a used truck and found just what I thought I wanted in local listings - I contacted the owner who told me he had the car from new, it had never been in an accident and that he had a clear title - after viewing the vehicle I did a check on CarFax and found that he was the THIRD owner and that there was a lien on the vehicle - too many doubts and I avoided the truck - if he was telling lies what else was wrong about the truck. I ended up going through a dealership where everything I was told about the truck matched up with the CarFax report. Buying CarFax was money well spent and I am sure saves me from a potential Lemon - thank you

Was looking for a safe and reliable car for my 17 year old son. Did research on what cars were both safe and reliable. Found one on Craigslist. A Ford 500. Purchased a Carfax package, ran a Carfax and we were good to go. Agreed on a price, asked for a few minor repairs and placed a deposit on the car. Next day, she changed her mind. Found another vehicle on Craiglist and inquired about it. Coincidentally, my husband saw the same vehicle on his way home. It was a 2004 Saturn Vue. Ran a Carfax (the owner had one too) and purchased the car. My son is a happy camper and we are too knowing it's history.

My fianc? bought a car from a dealership in town. We were told it was brand new-a dealer demo. After all paperwork has been signed, a title came in the mail a week later instead of a MSO. We went straight up to the dealer and they never would run a CARFAX for us. After telling us they'd get us a new car, which is what we thought was purchased originally, we went home and ran a CARFAX on both vehicles. After being dooped the first time, we wanted to make sure the second car was new. The second car had never been registered according to CARFAX. Now we will always run a CARFAX when buying a vehicle, even if it is supposed to be new!

My 16-yr-old Audi finally died as I pulled into the garage a short while back and so my car search shifted into high gear. I spent a lot of time online searching various sites and being picky about what I spent my time going to test drive. My wife found a Lexus ES 330 that she thought I'd like and so we drove across town to meet the seller for a test drive. I was extremely happy with the test drive and the car was very clean. So I bought a 5-pack of CarFax VIN lookups using my smartphone and checked the car's VIN. To my surprise the CARFAX revealed that the car had been in no less than 2 front-end collisions. That would explain why it pulled a little to the right. Wow, was I grateful for that info. I promptly abandoned that lead. About a week later, though, I found another Lexus that I liked online, but it had a bit higher mileage than I was considering. So I ran the CarFAX. This time, the report came back indicating zero accidents, but even more helpful was that fact that the CARFAX report showed that the car had been taken to the dealership every 5,000 miles for service. The test drive went well & I bought the car with the confidence of knowing the service history of this 'higher-mileage' vehicle. I would never buy a car again without first running the CARFAX.

This is the first used car I have bought in about ten years. Read a lot if free reports provided by dealer. Found a couple Cadillacs that did not have free Carfax, so I bought the five report special. Used all but one to narrow the search. Found two with wreck history. Ended up with used Mercury Grand Marquis at local Ford dealer. I wish I had known about Carfax when I bought our 98 Buick Lesabre. Thanks.

I had been shopping for a 2004 Corvette Z06 for several months. I had specific criteria for the car I wanted and as a result the candidates were spread across the country. I live in Southern California and when I finally found the car I wanted it was in Seattle. If it had not been for a comprehensive (and clean) CARFAX that contained the vehicles entire history since new I would not have considered jumping on a plane for Seattle to buy the car. It turned out to be perfect and exactly what I was looking for. Because of CARFAX I felt confident I could hop in, turn the key, and make the 1200 mile trip home.

I was looking for a 350Z. I figured if I needed a commuter car, I was going to have something fun to commute in. I found a gorgeous one at a local "mom & pop" dealer. She rode beautifully. However, there were some cosmetic issues (dents that were in odd places) and when I asked to take her to my mechanic they refused. I was told they didn't have a spare plate because so and so was at the auction. Within 2 minutes so and so walked back in. They still refused. I told them that I would need to wait for the bank to open up the following day and I would be back. While I was driving home I just couldn't shake the feeling of them not wanting my mechanic to put the vehicle up on the rack. So I decided to purchase a Carfax. MAN you guys saved me a fortune. The vehicle had been in an accident. They didn't want my mechanic to tell me this before they had my money. So I printed up the Carfax and went in the following day. I test drove it again, I asked if I could take it to the mechanic again, this time the excuse was my mechanic was too far from the dealership. So I asked if the Z had ever been in an accident. I was told this amazing story about how wonderful and beautiful and dependable the car would be and that "it had never been in an accident." I very politely asked them for a Carfax. He said that it wasn't cost effective for them. I gently put my crisply printed copy on his desk and walked out. I happened upon the vehicle on craigslist, again stating it had never been in an accident. I posted a response to the add with the carfax on there. Carfax, you saved me. And because of your site, I found a 350Z in Richmond that was even more gorgeous than the one I was looking at AND it had a clean carfax. You guys are heros for the little person. Thank you.

I needed to buy a used car without worry. There are so many choices out there and it's difficult to know anything about the history of a car, whether purchasing from a private party or a dealer. I had narrowed down my choice to a Subaru Outback. Now, the big questions were finding one that didn't have too many owners, was serviced regularly, and if it the car was an older model, that certain major maintenance service had been completed. I could only do that with CarFax. Not only could I find that information easily, but by entering license plate numbers of potential purchases, I could run unlimited number of CarFax reports. In addition, CarFax guaranteed the report so that my purchase was worry-free. I ended up buying a 2005 Subaru Outback from a dealer. The car was in very good shape. I am confident about my purchase thanks in large part to the service that CarFax provides. I highly recommend CarFax to any potential used car buyers out there.

I love car fax! I almost bought a used 2002 Ford Taurus but after I ran the Carfax I found out the car had been totaled and had five title changes. The guy selling the car lied about the accident it was in. He said the previous owner had run into a tree but as it turned out it was involved in a massive vehicle collision. Thanks Carfax, you saved me from making a huge mistake! You can't always believe people when it comes to buying used cars.

Second time using carfax : Back in 2005 i bought 2001 Mustang Convertible. Had it for several years with no problems. I could say because of Carfax i had made the right choice, never had any problems with the car. This year bought a 2005 dodge magnum, and the car is running great. I had already decided the magnum was the car i wanted, went to see several magnums, and found out with carfaxs new app, the history and details of all cars i went to see on the spot. It gave me peace of mind, and im happy with my purchase.

Me and my wife were simply looking for used cars with no plans to buy any time soon. We mainly wanted to get an idea of how much we should save up for when we actually bought the car. We came accross a few cars but the sellers were pretty shady. Finally found an ad through craiglist for a 2008 Subaru Impreza and the asking price was super cheap for the condition and mileage. I called the guy just to ask some questions and he did say that the vehicle had a salvaged title due to a small collision a few years back from the first owner of the car, and that completely turned us off. A salvaged title was something we were completely trying to avoid, specially since the seller was located in the Jersey shore and after Hurricane Sandy I wasn't sure if the seller could be trusted. But something kept telling me to give it a shot. We decided to obtain a cheap car report from another provider which give much details about the salvaged title. I was hesitant to buy a report from CARFAX but I realized that if this was the car for us, then CARFAX would be a great investment. So we bought the CARFAX report and we were able to verify what the seller told me. There were no major issues with the car. When we met to buy the car I showed the guy the report and he was even surprised to see such a detailed report. CARFAX gave me the peace of mind I needed and I have even recommended friends and family to use it. Thank you!

When buying a car, I often travel 400 plus miles searching for the best car at a fair price. Using Carfax is an indispensable tool I use in helping weed out those autos that look like a great deal but in fact have hidden problems. Last month, Carfax saved me at least two long drives. The next time I buy a used car? I would feel lost without Carfax.
