“Bought a review that did its job at £9.99. Happy with the basic service so I used the service again and it would only give me the £15 option a second time. If it does offer a £9.99 option it is well hidden. Very disappointed.”

“Firstly I was charged £14.99 for a 1 gold check when the web page firstly I was charged £14.99 for 1gold check, when the web page said £9.99 for 1 (or £20 for 3). The report showed that the car was a ‘cat s’ failure, but no other info about that failure, or on its repair, subsequent DVLA blessing and reintroduction to the road or where to access any of that info. A simple ‘written off’ told me nothing! Furthermore a Cazana ‘fail’ meant what? I’m looking at a car that is on the road with a V5! Very overcharged and disappointed. Never again. Once bitten.”

“Got my report from Cazana to be told that the car I was thinking of buying was a CatN Wright off, but the site tells you nothing about CatN or what the damage was to the car. I think you be told what the damage to the car was so you can then make a decision on weather to buy or not!!”

• Cat N ( Formerly Cat D) – Vehicles graded accordingly haven’t sustained structural damage, so the issue may be cosmetic, or a problem with the electrics that isn’t economical to repair. Don’t assume such vehicles are drivable, however; non-structural faults may include brakes, steering or other safety-related parts. There are many different types of car insurance write-off – including some vehicles that can be repaired and put back on the road and some that must be destroyed and never used again. A Category D insurance write-off falls into the former class: it can legally return to the road, so long as it complies with specific rules governing the various stages of its return to use on the public highway. For a complete overview of the different categories of car insurance write-off, read our article "What is an insurance write-off?" Firstly though, what causes a Cat D write-off? Quite often, nothing more than light damage. It generally means the vehicle has been lightly damaged but the financial cost of repairing the car outweighs its market value. In short, it is not economical to repair – remember, car insurance companies look at the total cost of repair here, including hire cars, expensive-to-source parts for particular models and so on. Cat D status can sometimes be for very minor damage, if the rest of the repair process is deemed to be more than the car is worth.This does not mean it can’t be put back on the road, however. “The information provided was somewhat misleading in that the report stated that the car had originally been blue in colour. This was manifestly incorrect, the car was signal red and had always been that colour- this was verified by the paint code on the VIN plate.”
