“I think the chess set is amazing. I love the piece recognition and the colorful squares. The only complaint I have is that I assumed it was shelf ready. The main reason I bought it is a learning tool however there are no lessons as of yet and no opening book. Also I thought I would be able to play on chess.com which I can't at the moment and I have trouble connecting to Lichess. I'm also not a very good player but I should be able to be 100 setting on the app however I lose every time. I suggest you check to ensure that it is set up for the proper ratings.”

“The ChessUp board is a revolutionary idea, I was very excited to be a part of the first to get them. However, there are some things that I feel are a short fall so far. 1. The board is quite sensitive in a sense where I don't even touch pieces before they light up, causing the board to glitch out. 2. The board does not recognise the unique pieces, if you set the board up wrong it still recognises the wrong piece as the correct one. So you can play a pawn as a queen and vice versa. 3. The are features that we're promised on the app that are not available yet, not being ungrateful, but most backers have waited 2 years for this product and for it not to be fully ready is disappointing. 4. I feel like the integration between board and phone is currently lack luster, the app often recognises the wrong battery level and when you look at a past game or try and reset the pieces on the board it freaks out and you have to restart the board more than once to resolve it. Now some pros 1. The pieces feel great, they're the right weight and feel and comparable to much higher quality pieces 2. The idea of the ChessUp board is very much present and exciting Overall, plenty of things to work on, but also things to be proud of. I he no doubt this will be a household product in the future 😁”

“The quality of the board and pieces is exceptional; setting up the board (firmware upgrade and calibration) worked as expected and out-of-the-box with no issue (iOS). This board will generate countless hours of pleasure to chess afascinados. For carrying the board around I highly recommend the bag, which is of high-quality as well. Thank you (and the team) for this outstanding product.”

“Not being used much at the moment as it appears quite glitchy Game suddenly stops in the middle of a game and cannot continue Not sure if this is firmware or software problem”

“I unfortunately am unable to give this board a full 5 stars. While the pieces and board are of outstanding quality, the App is incompatible with my version of Android, and the developer has not yet made any patches or announcements to rectify this. Apart from that, it is fantastic.”

“Hi guys, I just wanted to say thanks and let you know that the board arrived today, and that air freight was credited yesterday! We had a fun unboxing at home. I must say, both pieces, board and mobile stand feels really well crafted and have an air of premium around them - awesome work! “The product is high quality, communications from Bryght Labs has been excellent. I haven’t used the board since receiving it because of many software bugs. Hopefully it’ll be sorted out soon. “Hi. The board has been great fun playing on. The time teaching my children how to play has been priceless. It has fully lived up to my expectations. I have had an issue once or twice when my hand hovers over a piece (not touching), and the square lights up..? Unfortunately, at this stage, I'm unable to play wirelessly with anyone online as having an older phone with an older OS won't accept the App. But once this problem is rectified I hope I'll be able to use the board to its full extent. But all in all, I'm very happy with the board and looking forward to starting playing people online.”

“I am an average chess player (ELO 1300-1400). This board has exceeded my expectations in all aspects: 1. Build Quality 2. Playability 3. Design and Packaging Considering the price, this board is extremely undervalued in the market, without factoring in the insanely good AI technology. Aside from the actual board, the customer service from Jeff at Bryght Labs has been professional, prompt and transparent. Jeff was able to communicate efficiently and effectively regarding the delivery of my board to Melbourne, Australia and I cannot be happier. The team and the ChessUp board are amazing!”

“Best on market compared to similar products by far !!! it is especially good for kids!!!, but app still needs considerable work, board is not fully functional without phone app, ai for app makes mistakes especially on higher levels, for example the AI did not move out of check then game aborted after freezing; taking back moves can also be tricky because if the board and phone app get out of sinc, sometimes the game cannot be restored/gets frozen and game has to be aborted , overall 5, because technology has far surpassed the competition!”

“To the Bryght Labs team and Jeff, thank you so much! After a long wait, I finally received my chessboard. My almost 6-year-old daughter was even more excited than me! We immediately played our first game and were able to explain the basics nicely to her. Using the color LEDs, she knew which steps she could and couldn't take, which were bad and good steps. So fast, that she managed to put me in check a few times (although I let her win, I was always surprised). It's a beautiful chessboard and beautiful technology and I look forward to the progress of the iOS app. Currently, it is not 100% working and I am sure that these bugs will be fixed soon. Anyway, even though we're a year late, with a lot of patience from the backers and your efforts, I give you a 10/10! To the backers who still have to wait for their boards, be patient, it's definitely worth the wait! Again, many many thanks!”

“Love the board, exactly what I’d imagined. The features present beautiful new perspectives and new learning tools to the game of chess. The only downside I found is the plastic material that constructs the board, I wish it was something a little more sturdy but this knit picking at best. -Thanks Jordan”

“I really like the board! The board is working really well for me and it's a great experience in itself. There are a few problems I have with the app. 1. It is not obvious how I can set up and play from a custom position on it 2. I do not like that I have to only play such wide ratings ranges on Lichess (+-500 elo). This makes it feel harder to get a game closer to my skill range 3. I would love chess.com compatibility because it is where I prefer to play. 4. I am getting a bug where it is not showing that my opponent has resigned 5. I get a bug where it says I am receiving assistance. This happens after I check my opponent's rating in the app during a game”
