“Excellent product. Pieces and board look and feel great, and the AI plays very well. The packaging is absolutely stunning. The set comes with extra Queens. All pieces are touch-sensor wonders that enable light indicators across the board. Use the (optional) ChessUp App for additional levels, online play, game analysis, and more. Kudos to the brains behind the design of this chess masterpiece.”

“As an educator, I wish that there was a well-thought-out manual for this wonderful instrument. It is one of the cleverest designed hardware programs ever but, the user learning must be done by experimentation, not by explanation or guidance. The many freezes, and re-starts are bothersome but might be part of my learning curve. I'm a fan, but any improvements are welcome.”

“Great fun and a lot of promise. Some kinks need to be worked out though. I lose connection 1 out of 10 games which isn't the end of the world (I log onto lichess and finish that way), but for the price I would expect a flawless experience. I'm really looking forward to the chess.com integration, part of my purchase was reliant on that. Hopefully that comes soon!”

“After waiting a few months to receive the order, I could not get it to operate per the user's guide that was included in the package. Tempted several times to start the chessUP per the given instructions but was not successful. Tried to contact support. could not get through. Needless to say that it was a waste of time and disappointment.”

“I love my ChessUp board and use it regularly for regular games against my brothers, while I also use it normally to play against AI whenever I don't have an opponent. The thing about this board I love is that I can play against my little cousins to show them how the game works since they get assistance. They love how the squares light up and show them where they can go, and they mostly ask me if they can play instead of me asking them. Overall I've had the board 6+ months and I'm confident in my purchase, I can't wait for the chess.com integration with the chess.com app. That will elevate the board to the next level. Then when the lessons are released I'll be completely satisfied.”

“The board works incredibly! I occasionally have issues with the board when it starts up but a quick recalibration fixes the problem. I had previous issues with the board malfunctioning during a game but those issues have been nonexistent since the latest firmware update was released. I can't wait for the full launch of the lessons and also the integration with chess.com. Once those are available this board will be 1000% worth the money. I play on it constantly with my family and friends, then when they're not available I play a lot online. The board has come a long way and will continue to become better, patience with the updates and bugs will be important. I've had my board for about 9 months now and its come so far in that little time”

“It will disconnect your phone from the board 7 out 10 games, not letting you finish the game and making you lose against the AI and other players in Lichess. It is not integrated with chess.com. When it works, it is beautiful. But that happens once in a blue moon.”

“Fantastic company! Fantastic product! I accidentally purchased a future discounted lot and after not receiving the board for a month or so I called and asked about it. My son was really looking forward to it for this 4th birthday. When I let the customer service person know they shipped one out next day! It arrived on time he was elated.”

“After 7 or 8 months since launching, the bugs on Android aren't fixed. There isn't a game I can finish playing with the board. It works for a little while, and then it stops working. Regardless if I play against the AI, or if I play in Lichess, the outcome is the same. I have to finish the games in Lichess directly and forget the ones with the AI. When it works is beautiful, but unfortunately, it rarely works. BTW, It does not have an integration with Chess.com.”

“Buy the Chessup computer! This is the only computer you will ever want or need. But remember: be patient and allow the time for the Chessup team to fix the bugs and continue updating the chess computer, if you do, I believe you will be well rewarded with what I think will absolutely be the finest chess computer on the market. I previously purchased two competitor models and had to take them back because they were defective. I have found customer service to be extremely helpful when I had questions or couldn't figure something out. Their response time in getting back to me was incredibly fast. I understand it is difficult to wait for issues to be resolved and that updates may not happen quickly enough. I too want it to be perfect right away. But these things take time. Be patient, stay the course, and I truly believe you will soon be in possession of an excellent chess computer!! I love my Chessup!”

“Boars won't sync and will leave you waiting for your opponents move when it is actually your move. GARBAGE. Needs major Android overhaul. Wait a few years before wasting your time and money”

“The board is malfunctioning already. There has been no damage to the board but some of the starting squares don’t recognize when there are pieces on them so the game isn’t able to start. Can we get a refund or at least a new board?”

“I've been trying to self-improve my chess skills for years, but hit a ceiling about 10 years ago. I have seen a huge leap forward in just a few days of playing with Chess-Up. Moves I never imagined are suddenly beautifully displayed on the Board. I have also find the support to be superb. On my first telephone call for assistance, I was generously given a more than 30 minute introduction by Jeff to the nuances of the program. Bravo Chess-Up!”
