the chessup 2 board is totaly cool, with cool features and it shuld come with lessons(even though i did not see them in the app, if someone know what is the problem pls tell me) and game review but when i bought it and installed the app, i saw that almost every feature that on the board is free in the app, and only 2 player mode unlocked with the board. it means i paid 300 dollars for only playing on a real board, cuz the game assistance included in the free app so yea... the build in wifi and screen is cool, but the price is not great and this is why 4 stars.

The board if fine, it works well by itself, and with Lichess. With Chess.com, the integration, which has been in Beta for quiete a while, sometimes fails to connect.

I am a retired teacher, living in a retirement home. I planned to use this chess set to teach some of the residents who either have always wanted to learn chess, or played years ago and wanted a refresher. This set is "sort of okay" for that purpose. First, the pieces are too light. You bump into one piece and three or four fall over; they need to be weighted. Second, the board works beautifully if you're playing but not if you want to do a demonstration: here's how the rook moves, here's how the bishop moves, etc. I'm using my own (regular) board for now, and when the folks are familiar enough with moving the pieces, and are ready to play, I'll bring out this one. I'm sure it'll be great then; it just doesn't work for teaching outside of the "play" format.

My Grandson and I enjoy playing chess. We both are learning the games. So far, the only thing that we have problems with is. If we accidentally touch the gear button, it screws up the game. We do not know how to get out of it and must start all over.

Bought this for my 6 year old who has recently started playing and loving chess - he was immediately obsessed with this chess board! I’m so glad he can now play against the computer and we can set the difficulty level - he has won and lost a good balance so he is continuing to remain engaged without being discouraged. I have found sometimes the settings are a little buggy or frustrating to set right (for both the 6 year old and myself who did read the instructions!) but nothing we can’t stumble thru. I also wish it came with a bag to store the chess pieces - this feels like an obvious miss. But overall extremely happy customer.

I purchased this for my 11 year old and I to play together and it’s super fun! Learning how the board works when assisting is not the easiest, still not sure what the difference in colors mean. The board comes is a very bulky box so I am hoping that the case makes the game more transportation friendly! Also hoping that as the board develops the tutorials on how to use the board are easier to find and fallow. Learning how to use the board is taking a lot more time and effort than I thought it would. Over all I am happy I made the purchase and enjoy the experience with my son!

Chessup. So far so good, I love that it's getting my wife and kids interested. The handicap option evens the playing field. It's somewhat glitchy at times, but has never prevented a game from finishing. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars. It isn't flawless, but technology rarely is. Would highly recommend for a beginner or someone wanting to introduce others to the game. I wish I had this to learn on.

My wife got me the board as a birthday present and I really love the ability to play an AI on a physical board as well as many of the existing assisting features but I feel like there could be so much more added to it and hope to see it advance in the future! A few ideas from just having it for a week - 1. The number one thing I want from this board is to improve my chess game and one way I was hoping to do that was through teaching me the best ways to learn chess openings. I know the most common openings are stored in the board but I think it would be such a huge perk if I could select from a dropdown or input which opening I want to execute in the app and then have the board guide me through the best ways to get those setups done and what to do when those openings are challenged in unexpected ways. 2. I'd love to just have a "Custom Board" selection in the app where I can set up the pieces how I want and then export it to the board in one click. Right now, the FEN string works but for someone who has never used that before, it's super painful to figure out every time. There are other small tweaks I'd want to see but those two are the biggest things I feel like would benefit the user right now and don't think it would be crazy hard to implement with the app. Overall though, the board is great and I'm looking forward to it really becoming a one-stop shop for players trying to improve in the future!

I enjoy your product. I can play with my 8-year-old son and he is excited to play every night because we can adjust the assist to help him and not me. The trick is that if he touches a piece that shows a blue or green square he has to move that piece. In other words, he can not just touch every piece until he finds the green square. This way he has to think about the move and then touch the piece he thinks the the best move. If it is all red he moves can try touching another piece. This method results in him winning most of the games but still leaves me a chance to win a few. The only thing I have trouble with is sometimes I have trouble with it linking with my phone, especially after a game and we start a new game. It can be frustrating.

I do like to look and feel of the board and pieces - very engaging in use. Have only used the built-in AI to date but will get round to playing online when I pluck up the courage. One criticism however: the help (no matter what level) can make some peculiar move choices from time to time.

Great chessboard to learn and play! Very good haptic feeling. It also works very well, at first i was scared about the bug reviews, but no problems with iphone. Only nut useable in hot environment (like balcony in summer), then it gets errors. All in all still great product!

I'm delighted with the ChessUp board. The pieces could be better. King and queen are too similar. Main problem was the long delivery time that turned out to be even longer due to customs delays in Europe. All that said this is a great board and app (iOS)

It's pretty good for improving your play and helping you with suggestions. The pieces are of a reasonable size and pretty decent quality considering they are plastic Quite disappointed that it still can't integrate with Chess.com. Crashes occasionally mid game which is extremely frustrating, seems to need an occasional calibration even after the initial one. Worth the money? Not really at the current price. Would I buy again? Only if the price dropped by a reasonable amount.

This chess set makes playing chess fun! I just played another game on Lichess where I thought I would offer a draw to my opponent but the android app doesn't have a way of doing that. I also can't find a resign button when I'm loosing to the AI. The app needs improvement but it's still an enjoyable game online 👍

As an educator, I wish that there was a well-thought-out manual for this wonderful instrument. It is one of the cleverest designed hardware programs ever but, the user learning must be done by experimentation, not by explanation or guidance. The many freezes, and re-starts are bothersome but might be part of my learning curve. I'm a fan, but any improvements are welcome.

Great fun and a lot of promise. Some kinks need to be worked out though. I lose connection 1 out of 10 games which isn't the end of the world (I log onto lichess and finish that way), but for the price I would expect a flawless experience. I'm really looking forward to the chess.com integration, part of my purchase was reliant on that. Hopefully that comes soon!
