About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“We are very pleased with the quality of our new cherry sleigh bed frame. The cherry is beautiful and the workmanship is very good. However, I am not using the platform structure as it is plywood with flimsy support legs. I have retained the folding steel frame and assembled the new bed frame around it.”

Jeff, Thank you for your candid feedback on the platform structure. We have transitioned most of our platform beds to a slat system that is both elegant and solid, with a thick center support rail replacing the legs. Your comment may be just the kick-in-the-pants we need to encourage the builder of our Penobscot beds to make a similar change. “My new desk is gorgeous! Wanda was very helpful, keeping me informed and being accommodating during this crazy pandemic. The two men who delivered my desk went above and beyond--they relocated my old desk to our garage and then installed my new one without a scratch--and with only 1/8" to spare getting it through our many doorways.”

“During the Covid isolation began to clean our own house. What became quickly evident was how important it was to remove our shoes. We did not have a seat near our front door and decided we wanted a bench. When we moved to this house we purchased a coffee table from Chilton. The quality of the work makes it a pleasure to the eye and the touch. It was a homerun. Both a new focal point for our entryway and a great place to sit.”

“I bought the Bethel Shaker Wide Bookcase and couldn't be happier. The design is perfect and the workmanship is excellent. Ordering online was seamless. I picked it up in Scarborough and Zac helped me load it in the car.”

“I think we have eight Chilton pieces now, including a dining table and chairs. All are beautiful. The chairs in particular are works of art. The people at Chilton and friendly and helpful, and the delivery service also does an excellent job.”

“We love our new tables, chairs and hutch. In the delivery a small injury to the hutch occurred. When we contacted Chilton, they immediately set up a service technician to come and repair. The service professional was a pleasure, very efficient and repaired the mark so well that it is impossible to discern. Many thanks to the team at Chilton for their excellent client service and exceptional products. Highly recommend them!”
