About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“Good solid wood hand crafted made in the USA furniture is hard to find anymore. This coffee table is the best and will last forever. I’ll be back to purchase more pieces.”

“At the time we purchased the table we were given an estimated timeline for completion and delivery. The table was delivered sooner than we expected. It would have been even easier if the snowstorms hadn't caused delay in the delivery!”

“We were looking for a TV stand about the size of the Foyer Cupboard. Chilton customized it for us with glass doors and it looks great. It took about 5 months for the special order, but it was worth it.”

“Chilton worked very closely with us to design a custom tv stand. We started with an existing stand and modified it to fit our new media and space. It is gorgeous and we are thrilled! Are now working with them for a modified coffee table that will complement the tv stand. I would highly recommend Chilton to anyone!”

“Quality of furniture is excellent and service was good, but there should have been a better process of advising progress of the order. It was a 3 month wait, which we knew, but as we approached the end of the lead time, the store was unable to give us any advice on an expected delivery date. They cannot give the impression that it is out of their control because they are dependent on the manufacturer. For the amount paid, they need to be a better ‘front’ throughout the process. This will not stop us returning and hopefully can be used as constructive criticism.”

Ian, Thank you for your feedback--we will indeed take that as constructive criticism. We like working with small, local builders whenever possible. We like the passion and accountability they feel for each piece they build, and it helps to support our local economy. However, we do not yet have advanced systems with them for real-time tracking of building progress. That, along with an increase of in-stock inventory, will be an important goal for Chilton over the next two years. In the meantime, they have been pretty good about meeting their build-time estimates and we are glad we were able to get you your collection on time. “We purchased a bed and 2 dressers from Chilton’s and they are absolutely perfect! The staff was very helpful and accommodating. They assisted us with choosing our set and making a few minor modifications so we would have exactly what we were looking for. We’ve owned the furniture for several months now and it has grown more beautiful with time. Overall, a great experience and a great outcome. Thank you!”
