About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“Extremely happy with purchase! Bought two of these and the workmanship is excellent. They are slightly bigger (wider) than I’d expected from pictures but this isn’t a complaint. Love these tables!”

“It was such a wonderful experience to walk into the store in Freeport while on vacation and experience our dream dining room table in person. They were transparent up front about the wait for the item to be hand built, so we were not surprised by the delay. When it arrived, the delivery team took time to explain how to care for it, ensure it was in mint condition, and that we were happy customers. We already love it and look forward to enjoying it for a lifetime!”

“Chilton furniture has been a go-to brand for my wife and I for the last 20 years. We have noticed some decrease in the hand-crafted quality in our most recent purchases but the product is still better than found in any box-store and a better price than other retail outlets. We likely will continue to shop at Chilton for long term high quality purchases but I hope the quality improves to where it once was when we made our first purchases from Chilton.”

“Well, it sleeps good, no squeaks or rattles. The finish is nicely toned and I look forward to it getting some darker tones. The headboard is not quite as rustic as I would have liked, but the eye gets used to most anything. The slats fit precisely between the block spacers with no hardware. And we like the setback legs. All in all, a well constructed and handsome bed.”

“I love my Shaker table. It was delivered earlier than expected ( a good thing) and looks beautiful in my front hallway. My only disappointment is that the little drawers are so lightweight. When you pull them out, they fly out and feel flimsy in your hand. I wish they had been heavier or tighter or had a soft close... something to equal the craftsmanship of the rest of the piece.”

“We are very pleased with the service we received from Chilton Furniture. Zack was professional and helpful with each interaction. The quality of the cottage day bed we ordered is excellent and we are very happy with the purchase.. The only negative was the length of time we had to wait for our piece to be made. 21 weeks is a very long time.”

“I whizzed in on a busy weekend, during a sale. Liked this particualr headboard (each is unique), BUT it was on the floor and they weren't certain they'd have a chance to swap it out for another upstairs in storage by the following day, when I planned to pick it up. Not only did they have it ready to go, but they freed up one of the guys to help load the bed in my pickup. Great furniture, fair prices, very accommodating. I keep going back for those reasons.”

“We selected the Penobscot Arbor bed with storage drawers. The cherry wood is beautiful, and the drawers are deep enough to hold a good amount of clothes. The bonus is it's made in Maine, so we are helping to support the local craftspeople. The staff in the store were very helpful, with no sales pressure. Delivery was "white glove" indeed...pleasant and efficient. We highly recommend Chilton furniture.”
