About Chilton Furniture:

Chilton is a family-owned, Maine company dedicated to selling fine, wood furniture, all American-made. We are known for our Shaker-inspired designs, and also feature Arts & Crafts, modern and cottage style pieces in solid cherry, maple, ash, walnut, and quarter-sawn oak. We are also known for the quality craftsmanship of our custom work. Many of our pieces can be custom built to your specifications.

Much of our furniture is handcrafted in small Maine workshops, and we also work with boutique craftsmen in New Hampshire, Vermont and the Midwest, many of whom have been partners for decades. All of these cabinetmakers have a Shaker-like dedication to workmanship, function, and simplicity of line and form. All of Chilton’s pieces are built to our high standards, and a growing number are original, proprietary designs.

“The peg rack is lovely and well made, but I am disappointed that there is no mechanism to hang it. I thought there would be holes drilled to receive screws as well as wood caps to hide the screws. I called and was told most people drill the holes themselves.”

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We have traditionally not included pre-drilled holes in our peg racks because customers often want to secure them to the "studs" in their walls so that they can hold significant weight. Many customers have older homes with different spacing between the studs, so having pre-drilled holes would mean that they would not fit in many homes. However, we do recognize that the trade-off is that they are more difficult to install without a contractor, and we apologize for the inconvenience. This bed is quite popular and we had a surge of orders for it this summer which really caused the builder to fall behind. He has hired an apprentice and is bringing his build times back in-line with historical levels. We are very glad to hear though that you are happy with your bed! “My new bed is beautifully made and finished. It is a work of fine craftsmanship. The bed is sturdy and comfortable. The style looks at home with my antique chest of drawers. I love this bed. Also, the delivery service Chilton uses is excellent; they did a wonderful job setting the bed up.”

“I love Chilton Furniture. I purchased a fly tying desk from the over 20 years ago. The desk has been with me on several moves across the country. It is just like new. When I moved back to New England i needed some additional furnishings. I visited the Chilton Store and was very happy with the selection and quality that they had available. I purchased several more pieces and am so thrilled that there quality and service has not declined over the years. I would highly recommend their offerings.”

“It was simply to order. I called and a human answered and easily and quickly took my order. The bed arrived a few weeks early than scheduled (wonderful!) and the guys who delivered the bed were cheerful and very helpful. Goodness, if everyone from Maine is like Chilton employees, than maybe I should move to Maine.”

“Couldn’t be happier with these chairs! A slightly modern take on a beautifully classic chair. Lightweight but solid. My husband and I both agree that we couldn’t have picked anything better. We went with a cushioned seat to make it even a little lighter weight. They came out beautiful.”
