Got a Question?

Our 24 foot pool was install June 11, 2024. The unit is set to 56, there is lots of cell rods left but I can notice they are starting to corrode in the middle. The red light is flashing. Does this mean I need a new cell? Also the T was installed upside down. Does this have anything to do with the red light flashing. I would hope that after 2.30 months it doesn’t need a new cell?

Hello. If there is still material left on the cell bars, then it's still good to go. If the bars scale up, they could lose the connection so you will get a flashing red Mineral Action light. Please try removing the cell and cleaning the scale off with a metal file.

Hello, I have very sensitive skin and a normal chlorine pool gives me a rash every time I am in it. Is this something that is good for people with sensitive skin?
Asked by Megan (8 months ago)
Hi Megan. Many of our customers found us because they had a similar skin sensitivity. There are a couple of reviews that talk about this very thing. Since the mineral water has a much lower chlorine concentration, you won't get a bad reaction. The silver and zinc are also good for your skin and many customers say they notice that their skin feels better after swimming and soaking. Thanks!

We just put our pool in…and put on the ionizer …our PH is high what do I do to reduce ? What product do u recommend ..
Asked by Annette Yorks (3 years ago)
Hi Annette, There are several pH reducing products available that will do the job. If you are a first time pool owner, I recommend taking a water sample into your local pool store. They will run an analysis on it and tell you which products you need and what quantities. Make sure to tell them that you have the ionizer because otherwise they may recommend a product to remove minerals which will conflict with it. Also they might suggest to keep the chlorine higher than it needs to be. Thanks, Mike

I have been looking at several alternatives to water sanitizing and I like what I have read about your system. I have seen a couple warnings about ionizers that reports say you "can" get stains from the ionization system with the copper, silver and zinc released into the water if you don't closely watch and check water and that you must remove the stain as soon as you see it starting. I am not sure if this is someone being persuaded by other interests or if they are truly independent reports. I certainly don't want to risk ruining a vinyl liner to save some money on chemicals and making the water silkier. can you give me some information on the risk of stains due to the ClearBlue ionizer and with your test kit can you check the levels of copper, zinc and silver in the water? If I understand it correctly the copper addresses algae and is an anti microbial mineral and the silver addresses harmful viruses, fungi and kills harmful bacteria also. I believe you have zinc in the electrodes also to fight other types of algae that are more effectively controlled by Zinc. Before I invest in a product I am going to rely on to protect my family and investment I want to know how and why it works well and what the pros and cons are. This will be our 1st pool and I want to make an educated decision. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

Hi Scott. This is a great question and you are correct to assume that there are 'other interests' at work. There is no question that any type of dissolved mineral will deposit on pool surfaces if 1) the mineral concentration is very high and 2) the water chemistry is out of balance. There are some ionizers on the market that make it very easy to put too much copper or other minerals in the water. This unfortunately has given all ionizers a 'stain' on their reputation. With ClearBlue, the minerals are maintained at a range of 0.2-0.4ppm. If you use the correct model for your pool and set it according to the manual it is impossible for the minerals to go higher than this. For staining to occur, you must have minerals much higher than this and also pH, alkalinity and calcium hardness way out of range. Balancing these water parameters is critical for the comfort of the water, effectiveness of the sanitizer and longevity of your pool equipment. So it is critical to keep them in range regardless if you have an ionizer or not. We have been selling ClearBlue in Canada, US, South America and Europe for over 15 years. In that time we have had ZERO complaints of staining on a vinyl liner pool. In fact, we get regular feedback from customers telling us how great their liner looks after 5 or even 10 years because the chlorine usage is reduced so much. As you suspected, you can't believe everything you read on the internet. While there have certainly been cases of poorly designed ionizer systems causing staining, that doesn't mean this is guaranteed to happen with every mineral system.

Do i need to add chlorine in the ionized water pool?
Asked by Saeed Soliman (5 years ago)
Yes, you still need to use chlorine or bromine in ALL swimming pools, regardless of what other supplemental sanitizer you are using. However, with a ClearBlue mineral pool, you only need 0.5 - 1ppm of chlorine, vs 1-3ppm without (so less than half as much). At this level, it is still active at destroying nasty things in the water, without producing any smell or drying and fading effects.
