“I am using Cobalt for a few weeks now, so time for a quick review. After hesitating about the purchase, I can now say it is really worth the money. For years I was frustrated with the standard Lightroom profiles for my old Pentax and Nikon raw files, because I really loved the colors of the Fuji XT-2 I am using now. Now I can finally enhance my old collection, using the Cobalt Images for my Pentax K-m and Nikon D7000. Same for the photo's of my Pixel 8 phone, they are so much better with the Fuji profiles from Cobalt.
And I am very pleased with the swift and personal customer service, by e-mail. After I made a mistake with the purchasem it was corrected within one day, were do you find that, these days!”
“I have purchased cobalt-images products several times and am very satisfied.
The renderings are subtle, less demonstrative and, in my opinion, more accurate than other presets.
The customer service is excellent and super responsive, sometimes even late into the night, which is commendable.
The only downside is the loyalty policy.
For example, I bought CCD Fever and Leica Monochrome CCD packs, but I switched to Capture One and now I have to buy everything again at full price.
Why not offer a discount for loyal customers?
And I don't seem to be the only one criticising this cobalt trade policy, as they have been criticised for this since 2021.

“As a portrait photographer, accurate skin tones and neutral image quality straight out of RAW are absolutely essential to me. I work with the Fuji GFX system, but its film simulations are unusable for precise work. The generic Capture One profile also needs a lot of tweaking to separate colors properly and achieve a neutral starting point for further editing and color grading.
I also tried custom calibrations with Lumariver — sometimes the results were good, sometimes not, and skin tones often turned out inconsistent. Based on good references, I decided to order ICC profiles from Cobalt Image. Honestly, my expectations were low after all the other options I had already tested. That’s why I was truly surprised once I installed and tried them.
No matter if I use them for studio shots with strobes, continuous light, or outdoor sessions, the results are consistently perfect. The hard-to-remove magenta cast typical for GFX is gone, colors are beautifully separated, tonal transitions are smoother and more detailed compared to the generic C1 profile. Skin tones are outstanding — saturation and contrast are neutral and very close to real life. This is exactly what I need for my work.
After this great first experience, I also bought the Portra package for film simulation, which works beautifully with the vintage lenses I sometimes use on GFX. I really appreciate the predictability and consistency — it saves me a lot of time and nerves.

“I sell antique paper and graphics on ebay. Accuracy matters when attempting to communicate to online customers the genuine color rendition of a vintage magazine cover, chromolithograph, hand colored engraving or antique map. For my work I only need the base pack for my Panasonic G85. I also have the base pack for my Pentax K70 for personal and pleasure photography. I was using the X-rite Color checker which only got me 90% of the way to accurate colors, but the Cobalt Base Pack gets me all the way!
I have Cobalt Image installed in Lightroom Classic and it is super easy to used. For most paper items I adjust a RAW image in the develope module to my preferences along with Cobalt Standard, then save it as a Profile. With the profile I can make a baseline adjustment to hundreds of images with one click of the mouse. Very seldom do I need to any additional adjustments other than straighten and crop.

“I purchased the base pack and the Pentax digital emulsion, and I am very happy with both of them. What I especially liked is the accuracy of the colors and the flexibility of the system. Unlike presets, which will come with tweaking of sliders, I can make adjustments based on the original values with the Cobalt Image's system. Looking forward to trying other emulsions.”

“I was never 100% happy with the colours produced by the standard profiles for the Sony A7iv. My passion is for steam traction engines and the variation in colour tones can be very subtle and difficult to capture under the challenging lighting conditions caused by smoke and dust.
Cobalt's "neutral daylight" profile from the Base Pack for Capture One just nails it for me.
These are not Pre-Sets for HDR or other effects, but natural and accurate profiles for your raw processing.

“This is my second purchase from Cobalt and I’m just as impressed as first time around.
I purchased the Capture One base pack for Fuji XT5 this time.
Purchase process was easy as was installation.
I’m not a MAC expert by any means but found it pretty straightforward to download and integrate the files into Capture One especially second time around. That said it might be worth having a look and fleshing out the instructions a little for novice MAC/Capture One users just to clarify the install and first use process.
