“They are ripping my son and daughter in law off they are not getting their deposit back for carpet cleaning house was spotless and are charging for cutting the grass which they could not do as the grass was soaking. They tried to contact landlord numerous times while they were there with a newborn baby as they had water running down the walls from a crack on the outside and damp. They came looked at it left and never did anything about it, shocking”
“I am not one for posting negative reviews, however due to the terrible renting experience through DJ Alexander Letting agent, Aberdeen, I feel the need to warn other potential renters as this can ruin your tenancy.
Some of the experiences below:
1. Keys handed at later time than promised causing delivery driver delays and extension
2. Gas heaters were still not working correctly one month after reporting, and moving in, this cannot be legal.
3. 6 months to perform various repairs which we were informed, would take one month only. This resulted in taking a lot of time off to be present at the property.
4. Inventory items were not not removed as promised on date/time promised.
5. Wasting time and days out, waiting for contractors to sometimes turn up. This applies to DJA staff also who on a couple of occasions short minute cancelled the 3 month flat inspections.
6. Allowing people to enter flat with no notification to us.
7. My daughter was not treated nicely, experiencing ignored phone calls and emails by office, I suspect because of her young age 21. Excuse was always out of office.
8.During the move in, washing machine was not working, pantry roof was leaking water, toilet door was broken, fireplace badly marked with writing, cracked tiles in toilet, tap broken in kitchen, shed roof leaking/damaged
9.Cleaners had to return to attempt to clean the cooker, black scorch marks could not be removed and still remain. The fan was also very dirty at move in. They had the cheek to tell us we had not cleaned the oven.
10. The 'end of tenancy report', DJA stating 'customers cost' for slight bit of dust on skirting, piece of small paper on floor and similar. We entiterly cleaned the property but some very small dust issues existing.
They want to charge their own cleaning costs with no quote or cost agreed by us. They are not allowing our own cleaners to enter following rental termination. This is just a ticket to get money.
On looking at the hierachy of the people in the office, I can clearly see from Linked-in that the Aberdeen Property manager and senior property manager have little, or zero, previous property estate experience.
This has shown strongly thus the bad incompetence during the last year. Really beyond me how you can walk directly into a managrrs position with no experience.
Please beware that you may also suffer a similar experience to what we have, there is nothing worse than a bad tenancy experience. These agencies are meant to be our help, assist us where needed, DJ Alexander were definitely no good at this towards us, the staff we dealt with also need serious customer service training.
Honestly, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, they have been hell!”
“if I could. Terrible communication, try to shaft you at every opportunity-don’t even lube you up a bit, just go in dry whilst still limp- I have never had such a more terrible experience. They sent people to the view the property whilst I was still in the process of moving out, without informing me. Got back to the flat to clean up and viewing agent just stood there asking me if I was there to view. I spent the best part of a week and a half cleaning the place. Still not heard back on my deposit, they mentioned dirt on exterior of windows and was quoting £160 minimum. Not sure how this company is for landlords but if you are a prospective tenant you would be better off finding another company. Parasitic service that will drain financially and emotionally. I’m going to upload a YouTube video later today detailing all of the above.
Avoid.”
“Absolutely awful company. By far the worst letting agency on the market. The owner must be clueless or downright greedy as they steal people's deposits. So many others say the same thing, and they are literally the reason letting agencies get a bad rep. We left our apartment in immaculate condition, better than when we received it, which we have photo and video evidence of, yet they still deduct money from the deposit, so there is literally no point in cleaning your apartment when you leave as they will still deduct money from your deposit. Louis was also terrible to deal with, taking ages to reply and not helping whatsoever. AVOID.”
“It's nearly been three weeks since we've moved in (partner & myself) and we haven't received an inventory so we've had to hold on to all the landlord's junk that's been taking up space. The staff take ages to respond on email and when we call there's never an immediate answer - it's always something like "we'll follow up on that". I don't know what on earth the staff are doing for anything to take this long. The staff member we're emailing would selectively reply to our requests and just ignore some, then not warn us when she'd be out of office nor give us a time when she'd be back to take care of our queries (or even do something as simple as passing our requests to another colleague while she's gone) - it would be nice not to be left waiting indefinitely when it's already been weeks of no responses. And that's not even as bad compared to one staff member who just wouldn't reply to our emails at all.
When we moved in, the flat was not cleaned properly (they said it was just bits "here and there" but it absolutely wasn't) and they assured as that cleaners will arrive on the day of moving in, but no cleaners ever arrived (after that, they followed up by saying that they may take up to a week to come over and never gave us an appointment time like professionals should) so we ended up having to clean everything ourselves because we couldn't use the fridge or put a wash on otherwise. We're asking for reimbursement and it's nearly been a week with no response so I hope this review will do *something* - I really doubt they'll give us anything for the cleaning they should have already taken care of. We were also given the wrong flat number twice so changing our addresses with the GP etc was a pain. On top of that, they didn't even know where the gas and electricity meters were in the property!
The staff don't look like they know what the f*** they're doing and are astonishingly comfortable rolling around like a fat cat on new lows of unprofessionalism. I have never been or heard of anyone this frustrated or ever received this bad a service from anywhere. It feels like they do the bare minimum to get by and that they just don't give a s*** about tenants. Avoid at all costs. Unfortunately, we haven't found a nicer flat and so we just have to deal with this now.”
“David Sullivan was an inextricably abusive rogue estate agent who systematically abused me and many others who merely wanted to check out a property to see the insides of a building on a plethora of important levels. He slandered anyone who didn't want to pay up 6 months rent before you were allowed to even view the property. All agent's had up to 15 other equally depressing accounting of this unscrupulous man who has ruined many people's lives. He suddenly left London and all agent's to work in Scotland. Luckily my MP who has been absolutely brilliant ascertained the details of other's who were ripped off from David Sullivan or almost were. Check out the property first before you sign up and especially if it's an address which doesn't exist!!😬😬”
