I've used ebay for 12 years and this is the first problem I've had. I cannot believe how bad their customer service is for sellers. A buyer wanted to return an item, which is fine. However, instead of sending back the very expensive Hugo Boss laptop case that I sold him, he sent back a cheap HP laptop case. eBay refunded the buyer without me agreeing and when I appealed the decision they told me that I wasn't eligible for a refund because I don't use eBay enough. Absolutely furious

I recently sold a secondhand Camera on eBay for $2050 plus $20 postage. However eBay no longer users PayPal for payments and eBay now handle this themselves. In due course eBay transferred $1787.92 short by some $282.08 off the sale price. They had taken GST (this was new I never had GST removed for secondhand items prior ?) When packing the camera for postage it was dropped from a table causing damage and it would no longer turn on. I then contacted the buyer to inform him of this and further offered a refund. When I looked for a refund method on eBay I could not find one unlike Paypal where there is a refund button. So I told buyer to request a goods return even though he had not received the goods as this would be quicker. This he did but eBay took the full amount of $2070 and not $1787.92 as paid to me. When I contacted eBay via chat mode, It seems you can’t just ring and speak with someone as I looked everywhere for a phone number with no luck. I was informed that the $282.08 would be returned to me in 60 to 72 days ??? Further eBay was closing my account without appeal, due to activity that is dangerous to the eBay community??? I asked what I had done to cause this action and I was promptly told that they were unable to tell me why and I cannot appeal their decision. I have been selling on eBay for 17 years and I have hundreds of positive feedbacks from 100’s of happy buyers and no negative feedbacks. So I am at a loss to no why and I cannot appeal… if I have unwittingly done something wrong I’d like to know, wouldn't anyone? It turns out that the damage to camera was easily fixed, the battery had shaken loose… so I will be selling it elsewhere, anywhere but eBay.

I bought a car stereo amp about the extended warranty and everything they never sent it out in eBay refuses to give me a refund this is been almost a year ago now I'm sitting I've waited and I think everybody should know the way they mess you over when they do stuff like this

Be very careful. EBay finds a way to withhold money, They’ll drag out refunds for over a month. They’ll hang onto larger amounts of money for ‘security’ reasons. They’ll add tax to items which aren’t taxable. I’m using marketplace due to pending funds (my money) and pending refunds (my money)

eBay is getting ridiculous. They end listings and ban you for 10 days for things that can be bought in a shop. Looking for a new place to sell. eBay used to be good to sell on. It's got too big for its boots now. They forget it's people like us put it where it is now

After 25 years in business these guys still havent worked out how to send a tax invoice with a purchase. Further more when contacting the seller after delivery to request an invoice a message containing your email address cant be sent. So a purchaser must log in, request a receipt. wait for a response from the seller asking for an email address, then provide an email address then wait for an invoice to be sent. HOW EMBARRASSING and how does a company in 2022 actually exist with such a difficult process for a simple request. I have instructed all of my businesses and clients not to purchase via Ebay.

I’ve ended all my remaining listings and will sell elsewhere from now on! Ebay want to hold seller’s money for however long they like even if you’ve set your payout to daily. They expect you to pay for postage costs out of your own pocket whilst keeping your eBay earnings, on top of that, charge you extortionate fees and what you’re left with is half of what you sold your item for if you’re lucky enough to even receive it! It is not my first time or first few times selling on this account so I don’t understand the lies they keep telling! They claim they hold funds if you haven’t had a sale for 90 days. Lies! Ebay’s downfall will be their own damn fault :)

Sellers change delivery options when it suits them, this is not acceptable to me but is fine according to eBay, 10 year customer gone as customer service in the Philippines are useless.

I am so disgusted with ebay that I have started the account closure procedure. Absolutely crazy to keep selling on such a site. The commissions are very high and as a seller you have no protection. I leave aside all the cases of people who tried to scam me with the excuse of the object not received (when the tracking shows the opposite) or object not according to description. Scammers are everywhere: what is not acceptable is that ebay takes zero actions against scam attempts or verbal assaults, despite lots of evidence are provided. The straw that broke the camel's back was the case of an American, who bought a football shirt from me, and already the day after the shipment, started to send an avalanche of messages about the status of the shipment, becoming message after message violent and intimidating. At some point I stopped responding and in response I received negative feedback (with insane language even there) basically 2 days after I sold the item. I reported the customer to ebay and asked them to remove the negative feedback and take action against this user. They did nothing. I saw on the page of this person (who is also a seller) two negative feedbacks within a week (one also complained about the aggressive / intimidating tone of the user). So this is repetitive, not a single episode. Ebay will definitely do something I thought. Result? After a week the person in question no longer had negative feedback and was with 100% positive feedback. Ridiculous... Ebay has no standards, as long as you pay your commissions you can be the worst scammer, you won't suffer any consequences. I am attaching photos with some nice free offenses and threats received and for which ebay has not done (and will not do) anything

ebay stole from me. i sold a computer screen. 3 days after paying customer opened a case that he did not receive. ebay suspended me 1 day later and then customer received 1 day later. ebay are thieves and customer service just say bye to me.

The eBay money back guarantee is junk. What it’s supposed to do and how I used it: It’s supposed to instill a level of trust so that you can quickly make a purchase for something that you would otherwise spend more time thinking about or may not purchase at all. You think, there’s some slight risk, but eBay has my back. What actually happens: I bought a pair of New Air Jordans. There was no defect noted in the description, but pics were limited. So I bought. The sneakers passed the authenticity check, but when I got them there was a big black blemish on them and the texture was also worn down. I notified eBay right away, followed their process, and sent them detailed photos. They basically told me that I’m stuck with them and they won’t do anything because from their perspective they passed authenticity check and the seller has no returns marked. Two problems here .. 1) there is no sense of quality check with the authenticity check and 2) even though their policy says the money back guarantee has you covered for sellers that don’t accept returns, they will not honor it. Shop with caution. You may get swindled .. by a seller and by eBay.

Do not use Ebay. They ban users at whim, and do not explain why. Use other sites. They charge extortionate fees to sell items too. They banned me for no reason stated.

Ebay packlink with Hermes did not deliver an item I sent to a buyer.£46.00 I have lost.!The parcel was lost that is all they say, no insurance was paid to me.So where is my parcel I posted it on good faith & paid ebay packlink &6.00

Started selling on Ebay in 2001. There were NO .30 cent insertion fees and you did not have to pay 12.5% on item price plus gd shipping fees. If I buy an item at a yard sale for $5.00 and charge $10 on Ebay and charge $6.00 to ship it. I have to pay the .30 cents, $2.08 ebay takes,, $1.50 for shipping supplies (boxes are expensive), MY TOTAL PROFIT IS 1.08. YEAH, A WHOLE DOLLAR. Thinking of selling another website.

They have no time for sellers. All protection is for the buyers. You can create claims of damage without proof, write lies in the feedback and ebay will do NOTHING. I have been lied about before and ebay have done nothing but stand behind the feedback.
