“Very disappointing experience with significant unexpected costs
My experience with Engine Components has been extremely disappointing and has resulted in substantial additional cost, inconvenience, and stress.
I initially paid approximately £2,500 for an engine and turbo. Unfortunately, the turbo supplied was not compatible and had to be returned unused. In addition, my garage encountered serious difficulties fitting the engine that was supplied, which resulted in me being charged a further £1,500 to adapt it so that it could be used.
Because the supplied turbo could not be fitted, I also had to arrange for my original turbo to be professionally rebuilt at an additional cost of £500. This meant that, instead of receiving the straightforward replacement I had paid for, I incurred a significant amount of extra expense simply to get the vehicle back on the road.
Following these issues, Engine Components only reluctantly offered £150 in compensation, which I considered wholly inadequate in light of the costs I had been forced to absorb. I also found this especially unreasonable given that the returned unused turbo alone appeared to have a value far exceeding that amount. To date, I have still received no compensation.
I was also informed that oil from my old engine had leaked over the courier’s vehicle when it was collected. I found this difficult to understand, as the old engine had already run out of oil. I was then told that a cleaning charge might be applied and that photographs would be emailed to me as evidence. However, no such photographs have been received.
Overall, this entire process has cost me approximately £2,500 more than originally expected. What should have been a straightforward purchase became a prolonged and costly problem. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Engine Components.”
“Absolutely disgraceful experience with Engine Components Ltd.
I purchased an engine from this company which turned out to be defective, not fit for purpose and not as described. Instead of resolving the matter properly, I have been met with delays, excuses and repeated attempts to avoid taking proper responsibility.
What makes this even worse is that they agreed to the chargeback being processed back to me, then later disputed it, causing further delay, stress and inconvenience. In my opinion, this is completely unacceptable and shows a lack of professionalism.
Communication has been poor throughout. I have had to repeatedly chase, keep everything in writing, and deal with payment dispute procedures just to recover money for an engine that should never have been supplied in that condition.
Based on my experience, I would strongly warn others to think very carefully before buying from Engine Components Ltd. Make sure everything is confirmed in writing, keep full records, and do not hand anything back until any refund or agreed payment has cleared in full.

“Ordered an engine. Eventually arrived 4 weeks late. Told it had leaked oil so carrier would not deliver. Engine fitted by local garage. Original engine picked up. Exchange engine ran perfectly for 100 miles then stopped. Inspected by garage that fitted it who found shell bearings had failed. Three emails requesting refund plus cost of fitting the engine. No response to any of them despite the last one saying would take action in the Small Claims Court. Have now completed the paperwork and instituted proceedings in the SMC.”

“DO NOT PURCHASE anything for this company they are SCAMMERS, ordered and payed for a 2nd hand engine excuses for late delivery then my garage placed the engine in and it didn’t work they were then going to collect the engine and replace it, I didn’t want an alternative as we decided to purchase a brand new engine from Fords and they are now saying that they didn’t have their original engine back, and refusing me my refund. Don’t even think of saying it wasn’t this company I have all the paperwork and I will be taking this matter to court if a refund isn’t done. Scam scam scam”
“SCAM SCAM SCAM.....bought an engine, 4 weeks later no engine has arrived. Excuses given....engine was still in the car which meant delays, engine is leaking oil at depot so cant be delivered, engine has been dropped so is being returned to them, have found a replacement which is more money.........I do not believe this " company " had an engine in the first place and are taking orders to then try and source an engine after all the while keeping the full balance in their account until you force them to refund you. Having seen the other reviews on here.....clearly this is a pattern that others have experienced also.”
