“Any company that knowingly continue to manufacture pies that receive such appalling ongoing reviews deserve to be prosecuted for misrepresentation. It's true - the gravy does smell of beef or chicken but substantial content of either ingredient is missing which is what happens when a manufacturers key objective is to make profits rather than provide good value. When questioned they would no doubt plead that their specification does conform to some standard or other (but only just). Perhaps they should provide a straw for the suckers that buy their pies as 99% of the content would pass thru a straw”
“It was actually the 'beef' pasty. Definitely the worst pasty that I've ever bought. The label specifies 16% beef but in reality, it was undetectable!
Never again...”
“Bought these pies last week from a well known supermarket, whilst on offer .
I bought 2 steak 2 steak and kidney and 2 chicken and mushroom. Baked them according to instructions on packaging.
And 25 minutes 190cfan . Well we started to eat them, and everyone began to compliment how crispy and tasty the pastry is. And the the gravy of the steak pie was so tasty. And so the chicken pie too. But as we kept on eating, I couldn’t find anything that resembles a morsel of steak. Just shredded sprinkling of beef. I was shocked! I asked everyone else and one or said they had a couple of tiny lumps of chicken, but no more than that.
Pukka is selling steak flavoured gravy in a pastry and the same for the chicken and mushroom. I feel I was cheated. And will never buy a pukka pie again. And further more pukka should be ashamed of themselves.”
“This is not a review about the pies, which are no better or worse than most processed pies. My argument is with the labelling. Why print in minuscule size type in white on a lime green background? This is hard enough to read with 20/20 vision but for anyone elderly or with impaired vision it is impossible for them to be able to read the ingredients or cooking instructions. Why such thoughtless packaging? This must lose Pukka a huge number of sales when the buyer doesn’t make the purchase because they can’t read the packing.”
“Bought a chicken and mushroom pie. Cut it in half and peeled the lid back.
In one half was 1 small piece of chicken and a thin sliver of mushroom, and in the other were 2 small pieces of chicken. Most of the pie was a glutinous mush.
Packaging says "With chicken and mushroom in every bite"
Talk about misrepresentation!! Shan't ever buy Pukka products again.”
“Bought a vegan chicken & mushroom pie from Tesco in Sidwell Street in Exeter. The pastry is barely acceptable, the filling is no more than a creamy mush tasting vaguely of mushroom. There is no discernible chicken alternative either in flavour or in substance. It’s a very poor value product which costs a lot in electricity to bake and certainly to be avoided”
“I used to love these pies. Nice pastry with plenty of filling.
I bought one to have for dinner tonight as I hadn’t had one in forever. So disappointing at how bad these have became. It’s basically just a gravy pie now. There’s little to no meat inside. Ate it with home made mash. Had to make something to eat afterwards as it’s not even filling anymore.
Won’t be buying again.”
“I love the vegan da be of pies. But one had a small piece of something in it. I contacted Pukka. They were really great. After sending it to them an investigation found something from the onions that shouldn't have been there. They were so quick to sort it out. I will continue to eat them! They are the best choice for me.”
“Absolutely appalling quality. No meat or chicken in the 2 different pies. Will never buy again. Ridiculous price for no filling pie. I'm surprised your business has not gone bust.”
“Bought the steak and veg pies from tesco...what a laugh, will have to buy the steak and veg to go with the pastry and gravy pies i actually got!!! This company should be reported to trading standards!!!”
“We've had Pukka pies twice now, the first time I found just one piece of gristle in amongst the gravy, the pastry was soggy. Giving them a second chance we bought a chicken and mushroom pie, this was not much better with four tiny cubes of chicken and two tiny bits of mushroom complete with soggy pastry.
Will I ever buy another Pukka Pie.......? Never again”
“I bought 6 pies , one Being , steak pie had plastic in and card phoned company told them,, they then sent out packaging ,to put plastic, and card in and will look into it, I did after 2 weeks nothing , I rang them they said looking into it, 2 days later letter saying sorry about foil ??? In pie here is £12 pound of vouchers hello after my husband nearly chocked to death why would I want to trust a company who even said FOIL ,, in the pie I don’t think they even bothered looking into it”
“Just had my second Pukka Beef Pastie , and I would say without a doubt , it is probably one of the best pasties I`ve ever had , the pastry is nice and the filling is magnificent and filled to the brim. I`ll certainly be buying them in the future.”
