“My child has enjoyed the first few months of their 11+ tutuoring.
However, the experience as a parent hasn't been great. The system of keeping track of progress and homework is confusing and was not explained at the outset (my child has no idea either). Also during the first progress meeting, the staff member we saw, gave incorrect answers to my questions causing further confusion and didn't seem weel informed.”
“This is a place my daughter loves going to. We increased it from one day a week to two days a week. After a month, she started to feel more confident in mathematics because she had some minor problems. The staff was very nice and helpful.”
“I initially thought Explore learning was good. However, after seeing how the staff teach the children has changed my view. Majority of the time the staff are providing the child with the answers. The 11 plus programme is misleading. The children are taught in a group. At times I have seen children not participating in the session and they are
not encouraged to get involved. Waste of money.”
“Explore learning have persistent onnection issued with their online portal, which result in your child being kicked out of their timed learning session, and then requires wasted time attempting to log back in.
We signed up with Explore Learning in April 2024 to help our daughter try to catch up on her English and Maths. From the first session our daughter was repeatedly kicked out of the session and there were clear issues with the platform. However as the session continued weekly, the problems persistent.
We reported the issues and were always met with the problem possibly being our end, despite both family member working from home for several years without these kinds of issues. We were told to sit our child next to the router with she was on her learning sessions. Which was not possible and not a very comfortable and positive learning space for a personalised tutor to conduct an online learning session.
We trued changing tutors and while this was mildly better we still experience issues of the course of the term and now have not been able to joing the last 2 session. We have complained on more than one occasion and have asked for a refund as our daughter has not bee able to learn.
Explore learnings response is that IT will look into the issue. They are always keen to keep the direct debit going even with major disruptions and then say its too late to refund your money.
I would not recommend this service to others, friends or family as there service is insufficient

“My son goes to the one in ashton under lyne twice a week. I can honestly say the confidence he has gained is amazing. The work he does is very structured to his ability and can be seen on the parents' app. We also do extra at home as this is also available through the app, and the staff are always happy and supportive and always put my sons needs first.
