“Even with problems on the line the Hull Trains team did a very efficient turn around. The team were their usual friendly cheerful and helpful selves.”
“Travelling between London and Hull is a great experience. There is lots of leg room and the staff are very friendly and helpful. My only grumble is that the online booking system only ever allocates me a table seat and there is no ability to change it. I have limited mobility so always have to find another seat.”
“I purchased a return ticket to London online from Hull trains but two things went wrong. Firstly the train I'd booked was cancelled but fortunately there were other trains I could use instead and the delay overall was about 50 minutes.
Secondly I discovered they hadn't sent me the return part of the ticket so I had to buy another at full price which cost almost as much as the original saver return.
I am glad to say that Hull Trains responded to my problems and gave me a refund of the original saver return fare. Thank you very much.
My advice is, check your tickets.”
“Advance purchase fares - both first class and standard class (I've used both) - are quite reasonable for Hull-London length trip. Staff always courteous and friendly. Food portions in first class small - not even at size of airline coach meals.”
“I travel regularly on Hull Trains, mainly from Brough to Kings X on business and to visit family. With my work being abroad, I regularly have to change my travel date / schedules and as such, it is essential having the flexibility that re-arranging my dates for return tickets home via the Hull Trains on-line site gives me. Yes, there is a 10 pounds surcharge for changing tickets and maybe you wont get a similar cheap price from your early booking but for the cost of a tenner, the remainder of your original purchase price is taken off the new ticket. This is unlike the Train Line whom don't give any flexibility on 'fixed' tickets, even when you try and change the date of travel weeks earlier from your planned travel date. I really enjoy Hull Trains On-Line support and the staff are excellent on board. It's a really relaxing journey when you book in advance. Thanks to Hull Trains.”
“I always travel by Hull trains to London. I go first class and am very well looked after. I like the food and coffee provided and it is a comfortable journey.”
“Trains have comfortable seats with much better leg room than other services.
Staff are always friendly and helpful.
Booking is easy online and discounts for advance booking are excellent value.”
“Hull Trains is always my go-to place for booking, and also for travel wherever I can. Great and easy to use via the app and on board, the best customer service of any company along my train route.”
“Generally, an excellent service, now even better with the extension to Beverley. Trains are clean and well cared for, journey is usually pleasant (although some noisy passengers do turn up on the Quiet Coach from time to time). My only complaint is that there is no Quiet area on First Class (hence the preference to use the Quiet Coach).”
“Clean train and particularly clean and working toilet (unlike Grand Central where everything is filthy in the toilets and nothing works!). Friendly and efficient staff and we arrived on time, a good overall experience.”
“I will always use Hull Trains if the price is right!
Excellent service, friendly staff and you get down to London without having to stand in the cold on Doncaster station
What more could you ask for”
“I regularly use Hull Trains to travel from Hull to London Kings Cross.
The seats have ample legroom that is comparable to First Class and are wide with movable arm rests. The tray table is also much larger than other operators and easily fit a laptop. There is also a power point in the wall next to each set of seats. Along with extra legroom and power points First Hull Trains also offer free WiFi to standard class. This is incredible value and something that once again is more aligned with a First Class offering on most operators!
There was no trolley service but the Café Bar is centrally located and the train is not very long. The range was limited with the choice of just three sandwiches as well as crisps and chocolate and other typical offering. To be brutally honest none of this was really appetising and the sandwiches looked particularly unappealing. We decided on the Meal Deal at £5.50 which is pretty pricey in my opinion.
The catering is a huge let-down for the service. I had a Chicken Sandwich that had the tiniest amount of salad and non existent chicken on very dry bread. Washed down with a bottle of pop and crisps I felt pretty ripped off with sub par food.
TO conclude the standard class is just a comfortable and accommodating as a First Class product without the free catering. The on bard catering is a huge let down for the service but this is not just common to First Hull Trains. The price and direct service I assume will be the biggest attraction to the service but for me it is extra legroom that is the highlight of service.”
“You have the best staff on any rail network. Carriages are not upto the standard of your competitors, particularly toilets (and they do get untidy and unpleasant odour) power point access for seat nearest aisle, and the catering is well below Virgin EC although your staff do brilliantly with only adequate facilities.”
