“First Tutors does what it advertises: matches students with teachers, and charges a reasonable one-time "finder's fee" in order to get the tutor's information, with all future interactions & payments going directly between the tutor and the student. It's equivalent to what would happen if you found a private teacher through word of mouth, and very good compared to websites that charge you a middleman fee for every interaction you wish to have with a teacher. I am very happy with the tutor I chose based on the information provided on the First Tutors website. I felt that the information was accurate and not misleading, another rarity in the world of online services. Also, when I contacted the First Tutors customer service for help, they emailed me back within an hour and helped me resolve my issue. Overall, I'm quite satisfied.”

“The rating here is because of the cost of using this facility. It is not clear when you search initially the cost of using First Tutors. I will not be using it again”

“I was trying to find a music teacher and First Tutors helped me to find a satisfactory local tutor. It helped to see a photo and reviews of potential tutors before choosing, and to be able to message each other via the site. I would use First Tutors again based on my experience this time around.”

The fee varies from £9.99 to £34.99 and helps cover the security checks we perform on all tutors. We find that this provides parents and students with peace of mind. “After paying the introduction fee - I have been given the contact details of a tutor, but unfortunately have not started any sessions yet due to availability of the tutor to do face:face sessions. If this is not available - the tutor should not state so. I also began engaging with another tutor, but they then disappeared and I have not been in contact with them again? I believe the introduction fee should only be paid if successful tutoring commences - having contact details, doesn't mean anything if sessions don't commence.”

“Efficient service, found the perfect tutor, local to me. I would recommend this platform. I was a bit dubious with the up front finders fee, as I had read negative comments. However absolutely nothing to worry about, genuine service. Contact allowed with tutors to chat about requirements prior to payment. Excellent service and communication.”
