The initial interface is very good, however trying to retrieve information on tutors contacted is not intuitive and quite cumbersome. The range of tutors is excellent - have used for both academic and music tuition, and automated follow up emailings are prompt and relevant but please sort out message accessing!

Dear Yola, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. We aim to make our website as user friendly as possible and would like to speak to you about the difficulties you experienced with site navigation, so that we can improve our service. I have sent you an email with further details, should you wish to discuss this with us. Kind Regards, Sarah First Tutors Customer Service

The introductory fee is too high. This is not helpful for parents who are low-income earners.

Dear Abdebola, Thank you for your feedback. Our introductory fee helps cover the costs of our identity and reference checks, qualification checks, etc. Some agencies charge an additional £10 for every hour a tutor teaches. A tutor that charges 10 pounds per hour will have a one off intro fee of £4.99 but a tutor that charges £40 per hour will have an intro fee of £19.99. (max. fee) If you have a problem with a tutor we have a set procedure to follow so that you can claim another tutor at no further cost. We wish you all the best with your new tutor. Kind regards Sara Customer Service Team First Tutors.

Not bad, and I've had positive tutoring leads from them, but not as good as word-of-mouth, and they have an irritating habit of sending "New Marketplace request in your area" emails relating to students who live *outside* my stated travel range.

Dear Stephen, Thank you for your feedback. I think you will find that the requests outside your travel limit are made as "travel arrangements to be negotiated" which means the tutee will consider travelling to you. You can check your old requests to see if this is the case. Please do not hesitate to contact our team if you have further questions, we are here to help! Kind regards Sara Customer Service Team First Tutors.

We have used First Tutors to find tutors on two occasions. The first was not very successful, but the second is working quite well.

Did not find the site that easy to use. Did not understand how it worked as this was not very clear. After much messing about found a tutor and paid the £20 to access her details and she was actually very good, but she changed her costs at 10pm the night before she was due to arrive and has since increased her costs by 60%....which makes a 2 hour session £80 plus she then wants £5 travel on top of this...leaves a very bitter taste....and makes her very expensive...not impressed

Dear Diane, Thank you for your feedback. We did indeed receive your email in February about your tutor increasing the fees and we asked you to leave feedback on her profile expressing your disappointment so that we could offer you another tutor free of charge. You responded to our email asking us not to investigate as you hadn't made your mind up on whether to change tutors or not. We then see you left your tutor a very positive review in the month of April so we understand that you perhaps came to an agreement with your tutor. If this was not the case and you still wish to change tutors please contact us so that we can help. Kind regards Sara Customer Service Team First Tutors

The website is a good place to find tutors. However the fact that you have to pay the £20 AGAIN if you choose to change your tutor is very annoying. Otherwise it's a good site.

Dear Brittany, Thank you for your feedback. It is free to make contact with as many tutors as you wish and discuss all tuition needs through our system via your member's area. Only when you are happy with the discussed arrangement do we ask for an introductory fee to release your chosen Tutors details. Our one-off fees are variable and linked to the tutor's price per hour to make our service as affordable as possible. You can read about the cost benefits of First Tutors in comparison to other agencies here: https://www.firsttutors.com/uk/about-us.php Wishing you the best of luck with your Tutor. Some good aspects. The reminders are good particularly for customers to give feedback.

I wish prospective tutees gave us a reason when they either drop the request or don't follow up on messages. If we have to let them know we can't tutor then they should be asked to do the same.

Dear Marjorie, We do send several reminders to tutees asking them to respond but sadly can't force them to do this. We also give tutees the option to send a note to the tutors they have not decided to go ahead with once a decision has been made. We wish you better luck with your next tutees. Kind regards Sara Customer Service Team First Tutors.
