We have insured our pets with Animal Friends for years now and their service has been wonderful. Their new Pawtal system makes resolving claims very simple. Just pay the excess of £99 to the vet, and all claimable illnesses or accidents will be paid for direct to the vet without the owner's outlay upfront.

Made life so much easier by a non fuss action looking after our cat. Last thing you want when dealing with a problem are hiccups , excellent company to deal with

I have been with Animal Friends for many years and I have never had an issue with any of my claims. Having 2 terminally ill dogs they are on several medications a day, they need to have blood tests 3 times a year and with all the different illnesses they have a lot of claims go through. It’s a fast process and a very quick payout usually within 4-5 days of excepted claim. All staff are courteous and very helpful. I highly recommend on the above only. Costs before a claim are very low but once several claims are made it does increase but all insurances increase once you make a claim. 5* for this company

I have all my cats and dog insured with animal friends. I do think you have to be very careful when taking out policies. If you’ve claimed the maximum one year and only have an annual policy limit on that condition then you’re not going to claim again on the same problem if you have claimed up to the limit on that condition. Therefore I always go for the more expensive lifetime condition and annual limit per condition. So if a cat gets diabetes and has a broken leg in one year you can claim £8000 (minus excess) if you have a £4000 limit per condition. Once the policy renews if there is still a problem with the broken leg you can claim in the new policy year (once again minus tge excess for new year). As for the diabetes that will be covered for up to £4000 per year for its lifetime. With my Arthur passed away five years ago he had four condition after his immune system collapsed following his sixth booster. Ultimately they paid out not far of £15,000. Similarly last year my 12 year old Thomas has pancreatitis which he suffered from for at least 5 years. They paid out each year and during the last year they also paid out for another condition when his back legs went. Once you reach the age of 8 I had to pay 20% of the costs. Make sure you know what you are insured for. don’t get blinded by going for the cheapest rate and the lowest limit in terms of what is covered. It’s quite common for insurers to now charge you more once a cat or dog reaches 8 years old and most insurers do not cover dental. I believe Petplan are probably the better ones when it comes to pets getting elderly but then starting off with Petplan is quite expensive. Ironically you get what you pay for

I was with animal friends for 3 months when my cat got run down. I had only paid £15 to them in that 3 months but they paid out over £800 for treatment without any hassle or waiting, I was very grateful at such a worrying time. My premiums only went up £2 the following year, so far my experience with them is nothing but positive.

Paid out for TPLO surgery with no questions or issues at all. I would say if taking out insurance make sure you do tell of any vets visits, it won't necessarily put your insurance up, but logs whatever was treated.

Thanks Animal friends, We had no problems with our recent claim and the dog is recovering nicely thanks after the op. Yes we paid an excess and yes you took a percentage away because of my dogs age but hey any one reading this wouldn't expect not to pay excess on car insurance and even car break down cover has age related restriction and enhanced premium so give them a break, that's how insurance works if you want to complain about your excess charge may I suggest that you read your policy first. we have no problems with your cover Thanks Again. By the way if you are going to complain at least show your colours and tell us who you are.

I knew that I had to pay an excess and 20% of the treatment, but the remainder of the vets bill is on the way to my bank, so 5 stars are deserved....

Fantastic service. Great value, helpful and efficient with claims. And a lovely and moving condolence card when our beautiful boy went to run beyond the clouds.
