Good communication. Good app to track your driving. Went over a very deep pothole once and they rang me to check I hadn?t been in a crash and was ok which I thought was fantastic, especially for young drivers. They even waited until I had parked. They did automatically renew insurance though so be careful however if you ring within 14 days they cancel it with no issues

Never had a problem with smart miles, only been with them for one year but it?s so great to have really cheap car insurance for driving well. Worth having it and saving money

Absolutely disgusted with this company.Failed to show up to repair a faulty telematics box, "engineer running late", but no call to advise. Tried to rearrange twice, being in queues for over 40 mins both times.Then received an email to say insurance had been cancelled! Then when I called to see what was going on, they said during their security questions that email was their primary contact method, clearly not, since no emails were sent advising of any potential cancellations. After speaking to an adviser (for 40 minutes) who had to keep putting me on hold whilst she tried to get hold of a telematics engineer (welcome to my world I said!), and faced with an uninsured car, that was needed to go to work, I was told that I couldn't get re-insured until 'an investigation' had taken place. Clearly I have been forced into a corner where I have had to go to an alternative insurer, which i would have done in December at the point of renewal, following poor service from Hastings Direct Smart Miles. I have requested a full explanation by email, although I very doubt I'll see it. It is, however, imperative that any sign of having cancellation on my insurance history, is removed immediately, since this is wholly unacceptable without prior notice and is not 'treating customers fairly' as required by the FCA. It is my intention to escalate this to the highest level unless I receive, both the above, along with an apology for the horrendous lack of communication from this company, within 7 days, along with some sort of recompense for the now lack of No claims Discount, having had to cancel 10 months into the year. I intend to approach the relevant ombudsman service accordingly. I too wish I had read reviews on this company, avoid at all costs. Absolutely furious.

The box is very sensitive for acceleration, but its still easy to maintain a high score with one area being low. Customer services were always very helpful.

Got an email saying they would cancel my insurance if I didn't pay what was owed! The sum they wanted from me was ?0.00. If I didn't pay this by a certain date then my insurance would be cancelled! I got in touch & said how do you I pay this & the girl said " direct debit ??? Oh ok it's in the post!! I wonder who constructed the email????

Had Hastings for a year now and it?s brilliant. I got a 100 on my black box score which led me to getting a cheaper quote for my new policy. Would highly recommend if you are a new driver.

I was on hold for 16mins and then transferred on hold another 8 mins for the lady to say she would transfer me again only to be cut off 5 mins later on hold This was to renew my policy, doesn't look good for the future
