Never have I experienced such poor customer service if I ran my business like this I would be bankrupt in a month Staff have no interest in customer service Payed upfront £1600 pounds for a policy for my son with smart miles box last November he got all the usual threats every one gets to cancel for late night driving not driving etc etc Cancelled policy told no refund as a claim was outstanding against my son which has since been thrown out contacted Hastings after this and the now don’t recognise our policy number what a load of bull will be taking this much further

That's where the nasty surprise hit my inbox, instead of cancelling the policy and issuing a refund, Hastings immediately issued a new annual policy WITHOUT my authorisation! if I had not checked my email or the attached documents I would not have know, fraudulent behaviour? I will advertise this service to a wide an audience as posible as sadly all the other poor reviews have indeed rang true.

Only 10 days into a car insurance policy and I am sent an email saying my insurance could be cancelled by Hastings Direct Smart Miles if my score continues to be below 40 over the next 200 miles, but I won't be entitled to a refund on the £100 (1/3 of the insurance premium paid upfront) and they will charge another £45 for THEM cancelling the insurance premium!!!! What’s to stop this company taking the equivalent of 5-6 months premiums including the cancellation penalty and manipulating the data on the smart box to allow them to cancel the policy in the first couple weeks….

I said that I was prepared to pay for the two weeks cover, but owing to the fact that I was given misleading information by Hastings, I requested a full refund of the cancellation charge.

I was informed by the manager that if I requested by refund on that day, it would take 5 working days to come into my account.

Ring them up to say it shouldn’t have been cancelled and I haven’t even got the car, and they argue with each other and me for hours about the claims department not properly telling the other departments so can’t decide if it’ll be reinstated or not (without refund!!!).

Without any communication at all before renewal date from Hastings we compared and went to another provider for year two. Then literally on the renewal date they messaged thanks for renewing and took ?1200 on my credit card. Still awaiting refund. Hoping this can be easily sorted as until then all went swimmingly.

They then had the nerve to try and only refund me only £464 out of £700 for just under a month's insurance.

I phoned Hastings smart miles immediately stating what had happened and even though I was now overdrawn I now had to wait 3-5 working days for my refund, and as it was bank holiday weekend I had to wait 4 more.
