Have you noticed that all of the bad reviews stem from people who've actually had to involve MCE in a particular incident? They're great until you need to speak to them about ANYTHING. I had to cancel my policy after 2 months because I ended up selling my bike. I paid £437 up front, 2 months payment should equate to about £73 in total. The total amount they've told me they'd refund me is £197 - So that's an additional £170 worth of charges and % fees on top of what I've already paid for the 2 months insurance that I've used. In addition to this, I had to hold on the line multiple times for up to an hour just to cancel my policy. They even attempted to charge me for 3 months of my policy because I called up a day after a full 2 months, but luckily I sent an email the day before so they let it slide. I've received no email confirmation of my cancellation or refund so I'll probably have to ring them back to make sure it has actually gone through; and I'll probably have to endure another 40 minute holding time. All insurance companies bend you over, but I feel well and truly screwed by MCE. Stay away.

Nightmare company to deal with in the unfortunate event of making a claim!! MCE do not honor their written documentation, or their verbal word. Ended up dealing with Insurance Ombersman for resolution, process delayed/stalled by MCE for over 3months. They just add additional excesses to the policy not described in their PDS. MCE will scalp you wherever possible. Look elsewhere as you do not want the timely stress and headaches. Amateurs!

took 5 days to send docs ,that i had had to chase them up and then they put down no reg ,so had to chase up again ,im still waiting for docs

Cancellation policy is very poor. Refund is not based on pro rata but instead on percentages they have chosen. After 5 months, I am being returned 10% of the original fee.

Cheap insurance, excess is ridiculous. When making a claim the process was terrible. Get what you pay for I guess.

Totally unhelpful. Took my bike away without asking me where I wanted it repaired. Didn't get it back for six weeks un repaired. Refused to take it to my repairer and dropped it off with more damage to fairings and front indicator at my home address.20 e mails 25 phone calls to get my bike back . cancelled insurance and got ripped off on my refund. This company shouldn't be allowed to get away with this. They are doing this to too many people. Disgraceful.

Still not had any documents. Had to call and they said I didn't have a policy. Told them I had made a payment, searched the payment and said I am insured but my policy isn't online yet. Had them email me a cover letter, still had no documents a month later! Bike still shows as not insured!!!!!

My bike was damaged by another motorist who admitted liability yet mce couldn't be bothered to help me as I was only 3rd party fire and theft so past me on to a solicitor who I have only just been able to get hold of after a month.

Took Very long to pay out After my bike got stolen, When they did I had half one week then like 2 months later I received the other half after complaining.

In the event that you have to make a claim my advice would be get comfy because you are going to be on the phone for at least 40 mins before you even get to speak to a person (premium rate) who undoubtedly will tell you we won't even look into your case for 2 weeks you will have to every week to be told we're waiting on a different department if yo do eventually get a settlement (mine was 5 months later) you will probably get about 1/3 of what your vehicle is worth and if you disagree with the valuation you will be told we don't change our minds once we come to an evaluation if you protect your no claims make sure you do it on the day as with me i was offered it 1 week after and suddenly they have no record of it AVOID AT ALL COST USE ANOTHER INSURANCE COMPANY ANYONE ELSE BUT NOT MCE

Terrible to deal with. Unhelpful customer service staff, rip-off admin charges and zero flexibility around changes to policies. Avod if possible, I will be in future.

I will never ever insure with mce again after being knocked off motorbike in April they have not phoned or text or emailed me they are the worst . Only instreasted in personal injury claims it's now July still waiting for payment even had to pay for bike recovery and storing and they only pay 350 for helmet and leathers with 100 exes and you can never get hold of them mce answer your phones

This insurer was poor. Moving address the week after taking out the policy the amount doubled in price over the phone. When looking online for other quotes the MCE quote was lower than quoted over the phone they said this is only online and I cannot use that one, I was disgusted as the price doubled over the phone and online they wouldn't allow me to take this quote. Called customer service again and was told someone would call me back no one did! Waited another few days and called them again was told that I am now over the 14 days to cancel so have to pay a fee explained was waiting for someone to call me back and they didn't care. Explained that I need to pay £25 to cancel and need to fill out a form however couldn't fill form out there and then as had to rush my pregnant girlfriend to the hospital, advised them I am 100% going to cancel but need to rush off. Took my girlfriend to hospital where she have birth but was kept in for 4 days after. Got a letter from the hospital to explain I was with her and this happened. Sent all documents over to them ready to pay the cancellation and was told it had gone up to £75 because they pro rata the cancellation fee. Had to take this to the FOS before they would agree to the £25 originally stated. Would not recommend MCE to anyone disgusted with their customer service and treatment!
