They dont even deserve 1 star. They are just a front for other insurnace companies. You dont even deal with them, they pass the buck, fob you off, never again will i use RAC for insurance. Go elsewhere!! trust me

RIP OFF MERCHANTS!! I’d give 0 stars for customer service if I could ! I’ve Just sold my motorbike so I called to cancel insurance which has 5 months left, they then tell me I have to pay £79 cancellation fee ! Which is more than is actually left to pay on the policy; they said it’s down to the premium credit agreement they insist on but I’ve just seen premium credit don’t charge a cancellation fee so I’ve been lied to, I’ve cancelled the credit agreement online and DD so RAC you can stick it take me to court and do your worst if you wish but you will no longer get my business for the 15 company vehicles i have breakdown cover and insurance on

An rac driver hit my parked car, they used vehicle replacement group to arrange repair. After three weeks of multiple calls that went on for hours issues still not resolved. I have an a4 as well as a new born baby and they wanted to put me in a much smaller car that would not fit push chair. I explained and they said the rac had only offered this level of replacement. They said they would process claim but they only did something when I called them. Dan, Vicki and James said a lot of things but helped very little and done even less. If this is what the rac deliver I would never consider their insurance services. This company are one of the worst I’ve ever dealt with, worse than a back street garage...AVOID

My 18 year old grandson passed his test a couple of months ago and has effectively been shafted by Rac insurance and their underwriters He inherited his grandmas car and insured it properly (with help from parents, grandparents etc.). £1800 or so, black box and all that. Couple of weeks ago (on a Saturday night at about 2am), everyone safely tucked up in bed, with the car parked outside, theres a noise outside and there is a major incident going on (police, fire brigade, ambulances all present). Basically a young bloke with a mental problem has gone ballistic and the police are trying to subdue him, chasing him up and down the normally peaceful road with him jumping over walls etc. At some point the lad jumps on top of one of the cars on the street (you guessed it, my grandsons) and trashes it. A write off! So Following day they inform the insurance company about the incident. They expect to lose about £450 (£100 compulsory, 350 additional) but then the bastards add on another 450 because of some small print (which is now the subject of a complaint to ombudsman). Additionally they are now demanding an extra 1400 to insure him for his replacement car above the 1800 already paid. All this for something that had absolutely nothing to do with my grandson. My own insurance is with Rac, when it lapses then they will not be seeing me reinsure with them. Whoever is doing the brokering behind the scenes for Rac are doing a very bad job of customer service in my opinion.

I am very upset with the poor customer service of RAC. I was due to renew my bike insurance which was to happen automatically and to call them to provide any new information. Having a new baby etc I hadn't yet got round to it yet. I was still within date. However I then received an email asking me to call them within a certain amount of time to provide a detailed account as to why I had not informed them of an accident that had happened. I called them immediately and explained that I hadn't yet had a chance and I hadn't yet decided to renew with them. I also explained that the accident was non liability and I had not claimed on my car insurance. I felt the initial email was accusatory and not understanding of people's lives. The person I spoke to was rude and argumentative and we kept going round in circles. When I asked to speak to a manager he wouldn't put my call through. He said my premium would go up as my car insurance provider told them the accident was still outstanding. Despite me saying I had a letter detailing its closure and the non liability. I couldn't get anywhere with the conversation and feeling accused of being a liar I cancelled and did not renew with RAC. Unsurprisingly they have not sent me any documents or asked for feedback.

Broke down at side of road. At 9.00am this morning. Am writing this review now at 16.33pm and a driver still not got back to me. I have a newborn baby in car and when you ring up you get fobbed off with the Driver is on is way to you. I would stay well away from this company and try AA or green flag but stay well away from RAC. £120 to sit at side of road in my car that's broke down for 7 hour and 33 mins and still waiting as hes still not turned up. Pathetic. Will not be renewing and would definitely not recommend these.

The telematics insurance is a total con if you live in a city and do lots of 'urban' driving. The scoring is random and penalises you for everything. For example it docked me points for accelerating when I was joining the flow of traffic on a busy motorway! I never speeded and never used the car after 6, but still got docked all my points - the guy on the phone could not explain this. After two red alerts I had to suck up the £125 cancel fee and leave them before they left me. Insurance is meant to bring peace of mind, but this just made me anxious!! I also have a regular flat battery due to the black box which is a common effect too apparently. Awful product, avoid at all costs.

RAC cancelled my car insurance on the grounds that the black box was not fitted before August 31st. But it was fitted on August 29th!! Even worse: they forgot to communicate it to me. Now they refuse to acknowledge their mistake!! I can understand their initial mistake, but not that they don't take responsability. This is insane. They can't be trusted.

Never ever again. Spent hours and hours being passed from RAC to Enterprise to AXA. Absoloutly incompetent. We were lied to constantly. Nobody wanted to help and we were told "we don't deal with this" constantly. It was a simple claim and yet was the most frustrating experience I've had making a claim . Avoid at all costs.

Good competitive quote last year, about £200. Early this year my catalytic converter was sawn off and stolen. I enquired about claiming and was told if I do the car (23 year old BMW) would be written off. So, no claim. Renewal this year was for over £600. What? I changed company! I am sent a Proof of No Claims Discount. It stated Accidental Damage and I was at Fault. I had not made a claim and I was not at fault. Customer services directed me to Acromas, RACs insurer. They assured me “Theft” was on their records. RAC Customer services then agreed theft is on theirs too. But, I cannot get the RAC to send me an updated correct Proof of No Claims. I am presently stuck with Proof of No Claims Discount with the wrong info and successive emails to RAC customer services yields no reply. AVOID!

Bandits. My 17 year old son passed his test last week, coinciding with joining armed forces, so he will not be using the car. Home for 2 weeks at christmas, I enquired and learned nearly £1200 extra for half a year. Cant comment on how excessive this is, but obviously not worth doing. So asked to remove from policy, to be told there was an additional £10 on the premium, for him to come off it, plus £25 admin fee. At end of policy will not renew, and will never ever use RAC again.

I have a car insurance and rescue policy with RAC. I will not be renewing the insurance with them. They charged a penalty of £20 but delaying the payment which was due on 23/11/2020 , the DD had been declined because of 4 fraud payments to my account. They wouldn't allow me to pay with a card to avoid the £20 penalty despite the missed payment was only £24.16. This poor customer relationship, poor service

Just cancelled my RAC black box insurance even though I only had it for 2 weeks. The reason is the score for speeding - I was driving on 50 miles/hour road doing 42 miles. They gave me the score 11 out of 100 for SPEEDING! after I called them they said the score averages out after about 200 miles. This doesn't make sense at all. Why to penalise the person for driving below the speed limit claiming it was doing over the limit. So now they charge me £35 for cancellation!

I would not recommend rac to any new young driver my daughter now has a claim against her as rac put 2 flat tyres as an accident and are now refusing to remove them! Also the ‘breakdown cover’ don’t waste your time £127 recovery for the 2 flat tyres. Any changes wanted to be made on the policy we was told sorry you’ll need to cancel the policy and take a new one which was higher then the original. These are cheap for a reason disgusting company and the customer service is shocking.

Feel robbed. Cancelled my car insurance with 4 months left on it as my car has been scrapped. I was charged a cancellation fee of £52. My monthly premium was only £15.09. I'll never insure anything agin with RAC even if they're the cheapest. We also have campervan breakdown cover and my partner's car insurance with RAC. This will not be renewed. So for the sake of £52, RAC will lose around £400. Well done! I only wish there was a zero score option.

DO NOT USE . RAC delay in sending black box . Eventually arrived a month late we fitted it within timescale . Then got email saying we’d cancelled our policy - even though we hadn’t- and we were being charged £35 as we hadn’t fitted black box . RAC lied and refused to accept confirmation the box was fitted even though it was . Couldn’t get money back. This is a scam and needs investigation. Total nightmare. Seems like this has happened to a lot of people. AVOID.

Firstly, I’m only giving one star as I can’t give them any lower! I’ve had no major issues with this company till now, 10 months into my first insurance and two payments left they have now contacted me claiming instead of paying £191 a month it will be increasing to £361 a month for the last two payments, as I have gone over 7000 miles which can I add I don’t even remember saying I would only do 7000 a year miles. I would of definitely said I would of done more, as I work full time! They have sent threatening emails continually, if I don’t contact them back even though I have, they still send them causing much stress, as a 19 year only girl I’ve never had insurance before, as my first year driving this has been a bit of a shock! RAC have also said I would need to pay £35 to updated my policy if I had chosen to go with the increase mileage, even though it is them that want to change my policy giving my no other option, as a cancellation is £125 fee. They have for sure backed me into a corner and given me no option. One thing I can’t get my head around how do the expect young drivers to get on the roads when they have greedy money makers like this, seriously AVOID this insurance pay the extra money and go elsewhere preferably without a black bow they record you to benefit there own business they trap you and extort you for everything you have!!!!!! One more thing to add, they said they had doubled my mileage and worked out a certain amount that i would be doing a year so, obviously want to increase my mileage at a cost, why the hell did they not contact me at 6 months that my mileage might go over the amount put down, as they could of worked out by 6 months averagely what I may do in 12 months ie 6 months I done 6000 miles, double that I would averagely do 12,000 miles a year, why leave it to 2 months before my contract ends to now extort my money I could of had a longer period to pay as now on furlough and on 90% pay !!!

OMG - the worst insurance in the world ever. Don't trust this company for your car insurance. New driver, best quote, telematics discount, great "brand." Nothing but hassle since day one. Four (4) threatening emails and texts saying the black box was disconnected - 4 calls confirmed to them confirming that the issue was their side. Then after 6 days, they wrote to me to inflate my policy by £1200 suggesting that my additional driver was an increased risk because their parked car had been hit whilst they were in bed nearly 5 years ago!!!! They don't listen, they don't see reason, they don't respond to complaints in the appropriate manner. I read another review that mentions having Ebola is more tolerable than dealing with these - I understand that frustration 100%. STAY AWAY FROM THESE AT ALL COSTS IS MY VIEW! & Remember, when they've duped you into buying, then they write to double your insurance - they want £125 to cancel. Sound corrupt to you?

The telematics system is so bad it’s funny. Using your brakes lowers your score.... 15 mph leaving Tesco car park is Speeding apparently. Having the engine on when you pull over for 2 minutes... punished. I’d rather have a dose of Ebola than tolerate this sh*te for another year. Avoid like the plague.
